Additional info & updates

25 applications later, and I am tapped out! Yes, I went hard on the apps, and yes, my numbers are not the greatest by any means, but I feel as though one of these schools ought to accept me! Obviously, there will be a lot of rejections and waitlisting, but I am continuing to hope for the best!

I decided to end up going to Whittier Law School. If there's any advice I can give to those in the application process, it's to listen to the numbers here on law school numbers. Personal statements and other extracurriculars don't matter as much as you think. They're merely used as "deal breakers." Schools, first and foremost, consider your LSAT score, then they'll look at your GPA. Not to be the bear of bad news by any means, but save yourself the $75 application and not apply to a school you think is a long shot. Be practical in which schools you choose to apply to. Best wishes and good luck to all!

Which one? Catholic or DC? I would try both! I submitted one to Catholic but I highly doubt they would accept me. Who knows though...

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Howard is in DC too.

Sunday, July 26 2015 at 01:24 AM

I know there's 3 other schools in DC (besides the obv hard to get in georgetown, george washigton, and american). there's cathloic, howard, and some weird school name david clarke? I think my only option is catholic. I don't want to go howard. But I was thinking of aimming at george mason cause it's literally like a few miles away from DC. But then again catholic and george mason hard to get in.

BTW did you literally apply to 21 schools??? In the beginning I had a list of 23 schools. But after my first free report fees were gone and I had to actually start paying the 30 bucks I had to shorten my list

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Yeah, in DC the easier ones to get into are Howard, Univ of District of Columbia and Catholic. I thought American was an easier one to get into just cause it seems like they let a lot of people in. Yup lol I literally applied to 21-22 schools. I have two more I have to submit--UNLV and Southwestern--and then I'll be all done. I figure if I start to get all rejections (which I hope is not the case), then I will put more apps out, but for now, I'm tapped out.

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Oh and FYI, apparently District of Columbia has a provisional acceptance program.

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Have you thought about trying Whittier?

Sunday, July 26 2015 at 01:24 AM

I was thinking of Columbus. Yea I applied to whitter(still in review). I was thinking of applying to UC Hastings. But idk anymore. Now I look at your cycle I feel left behind lol. Ok help me. I need your opinion. What other schools school I apply to?? Thanks you're awesome!

Sunday, July 26 2015 at 01:24 AM

I meant Catholic not Columbus!

Sunday, July 26 2015 at 01:24 AM

you heard back from santa clara already? I been in committe for over 2 months now!

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Yeah Santa Clara took a long time! I knew it was a long shot though. Maybe that's good news for you though since it's taking longer!

Sunday, July 26 2015 at 01:24 AM

Maybe. just maybe. it would give me hope if they even put me on the waitlist and made me wait 2 months but i haven't got a single thing from them. i see you still have a lot of waiting with all those pending apps! any news yet?

Saturday, February 21 2015 at 11:38 AM

Nothing!! I guess it's just that peak time where the admissions offices are backed up on reviewing. Have you heard from Southwestern or USF yet?

How long did it take to receive a decision for getting off the waitlist from Whittier? Did you do anything special to dazzle them, like LOCI or an interview?

Whittier

I was on the waitlist for about 3 weeks. I wrote a Statement of Continued Interest, attended one of their Preview Days, Skype interviewed with Dean McColl and even had a friend/former alumni of Whittier (who is a partner at a large firm in the area) write an informal email to Dean McColl expressing my potential success as a student. I worked for it for sure, but I came off the waitlist TWO hours after the Dean received my friend's email. He said they weren't even going to start reviewing waitlisted applicants until the end of April so I was shocked. I guess I must have done something right. My advice would be to stay persistent and do everything they suggest. Write a strong supplemental statement, shining light on why you are committed to doing what they ask to come off the waitlist and you understand that law school is a commitment that you are prepared to take on. Best of luck!
