ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

01-04-12 Finally received Dec. 2011 scores! Didn't do so great, but decent enough considering I only studied for two days (long story). Here we go!

01-06-12 Think that is all the schools I will be applying to. Yes, I know I applied everywhere; I am keeping hope for this first round. Many reach schools and some that I probably don't stand a chance, but hopefully for Part Time Programs with a great personal statement, resume, and recommendations. Worse comes to worse, I will beast the June 2012 LSAT and apply early-action in October 2012. Wish me luck guys!!

01-11-12 Checked the online status updates and I was Waitlisted at Barry University -_- I am glad that they were quick to offer somewhat of a decision, but I don't know how I should feel about it. . . .This waiting is nerve wrecking.

01-15-12 Recently found out a very close friend is graduating from Cooley and speaks very highly of the institution. Hmm very interesting considering the many negative blogs I have seen referencing the school. What are anyone's feelings on Phoenix Law? They recently emailed me and basically said they would accept me based on my scores, though of course they are not that great. Just curious about others' thoughts.

01-20-12 Decision letter was mailed from Cooley on the 17th...still waiting.

01-24-12 Was excited to receive my first law school acceptance today, from Cooley. Went through my status checkers and was also accepted at Florida Coastal. Nice to know we are making progress; slowly, but surely.

01-28-12 Waiting on decisions from UDC and Santa Clara; mailed 1/26 and 1/27 respectively. Grr!

02-01-12 A couple rejections, but I knew it would happen. Still have hope! So UDC had us all played! They sent a message saying that if our online status checkers said "Decision has been sent" it was an error -_- Smh...Back to waiting.

02-02-12 Plenty of rejections flowing in. Smh. Those were expected though.

02-08-12 Received conditional acceptances at the following schools:
Nova - Online AAMPLE Program
Loyola New Orleans - Summer Conditional Program

02-22-12 I received a Waitlist notification for San Francisco's evening division! I really hope to be offered admission here, it is the highest ranked (100) of those I am being considered at.

02-27-12 UDC needs to hurry up with their decision! Also, CLEO is taking forever to fix my application to their summer institute; that'd definitely help with these last few decision I am waiting on. So many rejections! Running low on options here! SMH :(

02-29-12 CLEO got all my documents woo hoo! Now time to wait (even more) to hear back. The wait-game is a killer! Looking at everyone else's decisons here keeps my hopes up though :)

03-07-12 Decisions, decisions, decisions! It is very difficult to make a final decision by April 1st, which is when most schools want seat deposits or condition program deposits by. Smh

03-09-12 I received an acceptance to NYLS' AAMPLE Program. definitely weighing out the option considering it is in an area I would not mind being in and it is closer to DC (which I hope to transfer back to after my first year). A NY location would make transitioning easier and considering I would be admitted to the part-time division if I successfully complete AAMPLE, there wouldn't be much of a strain on transferable credits. Hmm have to start minimizing my options really soon...deadlines are approaching...thoughts anyone?

03-12-12 Feedback I have been receiving thorugh other forums about the options I have has not been positive and is gradually bringing down my spirits. Smh. I am considering retaking LSAT in June, and applying early action to schools in October. This means better options, scholarship offers, and better job prospects without the hassle or risk of transferring schools. It is so hard though considering I have put so much effort in this time around. And what would I do for an entire year? I cannot find temporary employment options anywhere in the area smh. Anyone that knows of any law firms needing clerical interns let me know. Lol.

03-15-12 Going crazy here. I need these last few decisions! Ahh lol.

03-31-12 So most seat deposits are due tomorrow...still waiting on some schools. Considering making a deposit just in case I decide not to sit out a year. Oh, I was admitted to Barry's Early Start Program off of the waitlist. .... Can People Start Withdrawing !!! Taking up all the seats, damn. Lol.

04-06-12 Received my acceptance to the CLEO Six-Week Pre-Law Summer Institute today! Now I have to decide whether I will participate seeing as I have been considering waiting until next cycle!

04-09-12 My application was place on Hold status at UDC today! I sent them a great LOCi today by email and mailed in a physical copy. I really would love to be admitted to UDC. Pray for me.

05-02-12 Still on Hold at UDC, good thing CLEO said they would help work something out if at all possible. I'm sending out three LOCIs tomorrow. Received an email from USF that they will be offering 75 seats to Waitlist candidates; review should take 1-2 more weeks. I received an internship offer at a top law form but it conflicts with a month of my CLEO program; the manager might approve that I begin a month late. I hope she is kind! :)

05-24-12 I just saw that I was waitlisted at UDC :-( It is definitely better than a rejection considering my numbers. I hope something works out!! I'll be at Ole Miss next weekend, starting my readings tonight.

Did you take the Dec. LSAT? It looks like you're casting a wide net so I was wondering if you're waiting for recent results before applying. Good luck!

You need to stop listening to undergrads and listen to real lawyers. There are Cooley Law grads all over the place and are doing quite well.

Nope I havent heard anything from UDC. About 3 weeks ago I visited their campus. The Assistant Dean of admissions told me they usually accept everyone with a 143 and 3.0+ into their special admissions summer program. So most likely you will at least get into that.

The location, staff & students are great. The only complaint I have is the actual law school building. They recently moved to a building that was a highschool. They havent really done any work on it and compared to other law schools it is really out of date and crappy. But the admissions counselor said they will begin working on the building this summer.

I still have 12 schools to hear back from, but I just returned from a road trip with my parents to see schools in IN, NC, SC and FL. I was able to cancel some schools off of my "ones I'd like to attend" roster but I will think about this more this weekend and then send out removals next week. At least, that's the plan. I was offered one conditional program at Nova so I have to think about that one. At least you were WLed there. :) I am "patiently" waiting for the other schools to respond.

Have you checked out the employment/salary infohttp://www.lawschooltransparency.com/ ? The chance of servicing your debt from any of the schools you are currently considering is extremely unlikely. Why not retake?

- J10203
  • Thursday, March 08 2012 at 09:41 PM

I completely understand you enthusiasm. But it is significantly more difficult to be in the top 5% of your class at any law school than to bring an LSAT score up. I have seen people bring scores like that up 20+ points. Did you take it one time? If so, would you be willing to tell me how much you studied for it? I took a course and it helped me tremendously my 2nd time around. It is not just salary information, it is that the vast majority of salaries are not reported at all at these schools. No one can predict with any certainty how they are going to rank in their class as 0Ls have never taken a law school exam before. However, you have ample time to prepare for one 3 hour test that could immediately put you into a good program, especially with a URM status. I understand the desire to want to get started (I faced the same issue last year), but remember that law schools don't care if you wait a year, they care about your numbers.

That and I will be in summer school this summer adding AAMPLE may be too much on my plate this summer. AHHHHH!!! You are probably going to do it?

yeah 95% sure im not going to law school this year. im just going to read a lot of books (some dense, some for fun). i studied a lot and was scoring 156 on average on my strictly timed lsat exams (took 15 practice exams) but i choked on exam day so...im just going to do a lot of reading, take only 3 practice exams and retake it in december. and re-apply after that.
