Additional info & updates

Oct 14 (2019): Got LSAT score

Oct 14-18: Received fee waivers from USC, Penn, UCLA, GW, and NYU. Received CAS fee waiver (in addition to universal application fee waiver) from ASU. Requested and received Northwestern's automatic fee waiver for applying early.

Oct 28-30: Received fee waiver from Columbia. Completed Northwestern's weird video interview.

Nov 5: First acceptance!!! ASU said yes and offered $85k scholarship (over three years) if I say yes by 3/1/2020 or $70k if I say yes by 4/1/2020.

Nov 6: Requested (and was denied) a Georgetown fee waiver womp, womp

Dec 10: Received request to interview with a Georgetown alumni

Dec 11: Second acceptance! GW offered $90k (over three years), though with their higher cost it'd be more expensive than ASU.

Dec 19: Alumni interview with Georgetown (way less substantive than I was expecting; maybe only two real questions?).

Dec 19: Yahoo for acceptance #3 at Penn via a call from an admissions dean! They didn't provide any scholarship info in their voicemail or follow-up email.

Jan 10: Found an acceptance from GULC in my mailbox -- an actual, physical acceptance letter! Very cute.

Jan 14: Very lovely "hang tight" email from Michigan.

Jan 31: Perfunctory "hang tight" email from NYU; I responded with an enthusiastic love-filled email and asked a second professor to send a recommendation letter (originally, I'd included one faculty letter and two professional letters).

Feb 3+4: The declines were gonna start coming eventually. Womp womp. Stanford came via a letter and HLS via status update through their portal.

Feb 11: After receiving three waitlists/reserves in a row, starting to really hate waitlists. Like, the last thing I want is to drag this out to the summer!

March 16: Got invited to interview as a finalist for the Toll Scholarship at Penn! Yahoo! Visited earlier in the month and totally fell in love.

April 1: Sent off a bunch of withdrawal notices to schools I'd been accepted/waitlisted at. It's mostly down to Penn and Georgetown (though, technically, Berkeley and NYU haven't gotten back to me and I did decide to stay on Columbia and UCLA's waitlists). Weirdly cathartic to "reject" schools after being on the receiving end for the last few months.

Thanks! I was regular decision at Penn -- they came so weirdly fast!

Your cycle is still looking good.

I'm getting waitlisted at a lot of places too, this shit's crazy right?! But I'm super jealous of Penn, you have a great option even with all of these WL's! Bet you'll get off some of them.

Right!? It feels like there's no rhyme or reason, but I think that might be the life of a splitter? Who reads your app and how they feel about it is probably a much bigger factor than someone with more aligned LSAT/GPA (I'm honestly just rationalizing what has been a confusing acceptance/WL pattern). But I'm super excited about Penn! Congrats on Berkeley!

Queer isnt URM for LSN purposes
