I decided that I'd pick Harvard over both Yale and Stanford, if I'm not going to be getting any money from HYS. I'm also an extra young K-JD, and I think that would hurt me for Stanford. Yale's Yale, of course, so I can't be optimistic of anything there.
Hi Irontyrad, congrats on such a great LSAT score. Do you mind if I ask how you prepared? Which books?
Sure! I took a free Kaplan diagnostic through my university in December and scored a 164 cold. I then started studying seriously in mid-February (once my athletic season ended), and was essentially putting in 6-12 hours per week until the first week of May. I started by going through a Princeton Review book, then hit each of the Bibles in order of length (because I'm a slacker), and then used LSAC's SuperPrep. From April or mid-April onward, I essentially just took 2-3 PTs per week, and occasionally brushed up on LG things with the PowerScore Bible (LGs were my weakest area). I always took four-section PTs (again, lazy), and I definitely tapered off in focus/energy at the end of my actual test. I also took it in London, which was an interesting experience, so I don't know what I got wrong. My scores varied a lot, and my average actually decreased in the last month as I got tired of taking PTs, but I would say that my realistic PT average was 174-178 (with three 180s). Hope that helps! Good luck!
we have similar numbers, similar results so far, and are both extra young KJDs. good luck with your cycle! especially if you're me!
So flattered, I could only dream of being such a TLS/LSN celebrity as xylocarp! I even stole your style of listing out schools in your "Additional Info" section. I'm following your cycle closely and hoping that we both do well!
hahaha. you can take my megaposter status and I'll take your extra LSAT point. but yeah, I'm also from the DC area btw so that's another thing!
With your LSAT score, you should definitely give Yale and Stanford a shot! You can do it!!!!
