Additional info & updates

** Things to take away from my cycle **

1. Don't apply as late as I did. It really does have an effect on your results.

2. Write specific "Why X" essays for schools you really want to go to.

3. See point 1 again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Submitted all applications after the December LSAT scores were released. I had previously cancelled my October score. Apps went out around 1/8/11.

4/20 - Finally WL at Columbia, and so ends my cycle. I still haven't heard from a few schools, but at this point I'm going to Penn.

4/13 - After a busy week of negotiating, Penn came through with some money. Absolutely thrilled to end up there. The only thing that could pull me away is that elusive Columbia dream. Also, thank you so much for the kind words in my comments section. I hope all of you are having / will have an awesome cycle! You guys are great.

4/8 - WL at Michigan.

4/5 - Haven't updated in a while, not much news to report. I was waitlisted at Chicago while at the Penn ASW, unfortunate but not the end of the world. I'm still waiting to hear from Columbia about my hold, and I still don't have a decision at a lot of schools (I'm assuming this is not good news this late). I did receive my first scholly of the cycle from Duke for 67.5k yesterday. This makes my decision really tough because I doubt Penn will give me anything, and I could really use some money. All in all, I like Penn a lot but I feel that if I were to reapply next fall, I'd do a lot better than this cycle. Unfortunately that's not really an option for me at this point.

3/16 - Just received an email from Columbia informing me that I have been held and will receive a decision by April 22. I'm actually really excited about this. I believe it means that my application will get another look before the cycle is over. I will probably send a LOCI in the next few days. ---- DLS just showed up at Stanford. Game over.

3/10 - Received a straight up rejection from Berkeley after being selected to CR2. Honestly, this is the first surprise of my cycle. I really thought I had the interesting softs and extracurriculars that they were looking for. I also really wanted a California option a bit better than USC. I certainly wouldn't bet on my chances with Stanford. To add injury to insult, Georgetown is giving me no merit money. Clearly I'm not considering GTown without a significant chunk of money when I have both Penn and Duke available.

3/9 - Waitlisted at UVA. First waitlist of the cycle. Pretty much expected it based on the slaughter yesterday.

3/4 - Received acceptance from USC via email and snail mail today. Also, I sent a LOCI to Stanford which has become my first choice school. My numbers are a bit low, but I still believe I'm at least somewhat competitive if they look at the application holistically.

2/28 - USC Status Checker shows that a decision has been rendered.

2/26 - Got the email acceptance from Duke late in the evening, on a Saturday no less.

2/25 - Held by Northwestern today. About what I expected with no work experience. I will be withdrawing since I don't have much interest in waiting until May to get a decision. Besides, I already have two great schools to choose from, and hopefully quite a few more to come.

2/18 - Got an acceptance letter via snail mail from GULC. Wasn't expecting it at all since I had only gone under review a week or so earlier. No interview either. Short handwritten note at the bottom of the letter from the dean was a nice touch.

2/4 - Just got my acceptance call from Penn! They flew through my application, which is surprising since my numbers are good, but certainly not stellar for them.

Thanks! Got the acceptance through snail mail. I'm guessing I could have gotten into the ASW a few days earlier, but I wasn't checking.

Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement! At this point, I'm ok with no Cali schools. I'd really love to snag Columbia though.
