Extra Curricular Information

The information/data for minority splitters is, at best, scarce... so I hope this helps future candidates and applicants in the same position as me. ___________________________________________

More info:
- undergrad GPA: terrible grades my freshman year, which I feel my personal statement does a good job contextualizing along with other application materials. GPA my last 6 semesters were all > 3.0, senior year = 3.325.
- LSAT: Thankfully, I have always been a strong standardized test taker (even with a bad case of ADD/ADHD...)
- Extracurriculars: pretty standard, nothing exceptional...
- Intern with Judge @ Family Court
- Intern with City Attorney/ Corporation Counsel
- Some volunteering with after-school program for middle schoolers
- Post-graduation: work full time @ city public works department

Other:
- 2 letters of recommendation, 1 from professor the other from my current employer

Yes this is a giant list of schools, but being a minority splitter is unpredictable (too say the least..). I'll be soliciting more fee waivers from schools as the fall approaches and get my apps in late november/early december.

Additional info & updates

As of 12/8/2015 all my applications are complete. One of my recommenders/evaluator was lagging but finally got it in. That was the only thing holding up my application at schools requiring 2+ LORs. Also 4 schools (Columbia, Duke, USC, NYU) were waiting on Dean's Cert.

11/25:
ASU- admitted via phone call. Surprised at the 6 day turn around...
Initial Scholarship offer = $30k-->$65k(2nd offer)

12/10-15:
Santa Clara- admitted via phone call. Law Faculty Scholarship $35k, renewable.

William & Mary: email notification. $45k

12/17:
GW: in, $48K-->$63k(2nd offer)

Mid Dec-Jan 12:
Northwestern: not admitted ED, app went back in RD pile.
U Washington: waitlisted, will be withdrawing.

Feb:
Received a 'Hold' @ Northwestern with an invitation to interview a second time.

April/end of cycle:
Deposited @ Boston University. Loved the campus and the surrounding Boston/Cambridge area. This was a fairly easy decision (combination of $$/debt and big law employment prospects). Staying on the waitlist for Northwestern, USC, WUSTL, Notre Dame, UC Irvine. Realistically, the only school (if offered a spot) I would go to for sticker would be Northwestern. I would give USC some serious consideration because I would love to stay in Los Angeles, but would have weigh that desire against essentially double the cost of BU.

I knew going into this cycle that my best case scenario would be to have one T-14 take a shot at me/ be in play. Even if that means preparing for the long haul on a waitlist through the summer. So the fact that Northwestern has reviewed my app twice and decided NOT to reject me (albeit also not admitting me) means there is something in my app keeping me in the running(despite a 2.83 gpa...), which hopefully I can accentuate in my interview/ supplemental materials.
