Additional info & updates

My cumulative for my school is 2.7 but somehow got dropped to 2.1 from the LSAC. That gets me pretty scared about my chances, but I added an addendum to all applications about my grades. I brought my gpa up from a 1.4 at the end of my freshman year to a 2.7 this year, and freshman year's gpa was the result of a lack of advising, family and personal problems that I explained in my addendum. After freshman year my semester gpas ranged from 3.3 to 3.7 and I also noted that in my addendum. And last, in my addendum I also noted that the only "bad grades" I received during my entire time in college were in chemistry, math, and a computer science course I never needed which doesnt relate to my capacity for logic, ability to create arguments, or understand the law. I asked that they paid more attention to my progression as a student, and the courses I'd taken that would actually relate to my legal education (my polisci courses which included legal research, constitutional law, etc.). I earned a 3.3 major gpa and received As or Bs in over 80% of those courses. So my fingers are crossed and I'm praying my addendum helps them to see beyond my gpa.

UPDATE 4/27- Only 3 schools have responded so far, all waitlist which makes me kind of sad because I'd really like at least one acceptance soon so I at least know I'm for sure destined for law school in the fall. On the other hand I haven't been rejected for anything so there's still a lot of hope. I applied kinda late in the application season so it makes sense I'm still waiting, it just scares me because certain schools like calwestern I expected to get an acceptance but schools are low on spots by now.

UPDATE 5/20-I've been waitlisted pretty much everywhere, accepted to one,and rejected from one. I'm still waiting on 2 responses which I'm hoping aren't waitlist, but at the very least I know I'll be starting law school in the fall. I think I'll be hearing from Pepperdine in the first week of June (because they said like 8-9 weeks from when it went in review), but I plan to call McGeorge and see about when I can expect an answer. It's pretty scary not knowing yet because semester's will be starting in 2 months and if I go to TJLS or McGeorge (or if I get off the waitlist for USD) I'm definitely going to have to move, which takes money and planning and I'm running out of time. But...we shall see I guess.

I got admitted into Pacific, which is pretty exciting. As it stands now I'm going there unless Pepperdine accepts me. I haven't received information on a financial aid package or anything yet so I don't know for sure if they've offered me a scholarship, I only know I'm admitted from the online status checker. But they did tell me I'll be getting a book award which covers the cost of all my books for 3 years so overall I'm assuming that's worth about $5k or less, it's great but doesn't really put any type of dent in the cost of tuition. I'm hoping once I get my official package in the mail they'll offer me some type of scholarship. I'm also hoping Pepperdine gets back to me really soon so I can figure out if I'll have to be moving or not.

Congrats on your acceptance to the Univ of Pacific! Have you heard back from Southwestern or USD?

Pepperdine denied me. I still know I'm going to law shool so I'm not too bummed about it but I was hoping to stay closer to home. I haven't heard back from any of the schools that waitlisted me except California Western. USD would've still be in the running if they had taken me off their waitlist but I have to pay a seat deposit this week and I haven't heard back from any waitlisted schools so it is now it is officially official, I'm going to University of the Pacific!
