I've seen other people do this, so I guess I will too...

My application strategy was to shotgun the Southeast, as I want to live and practice in Alabama or the Gulf Coast region. I picked about 4 "reach" schools, 6 I would be competitive at, 3 that I knew I would get into that were regionally competitive, and 2 "fall backs". My top pick was Alabama, but everything within about a 4 hour drive for me is high on my list (FSU, Tulane, LSU, Samford). I figured if any of my "reach" schools (Texas, Vandy, Emory, UGA) accepted me I would have to highly consider leaving my comfort zone of Alabama/Gulf Coast and take a chance. So that was my original plan.

1/13-Jones application sent

1/18-Texas, Emory, LSU and Miss. College applications sent

2/1-UT-Knoxville application sent

2/8-Applications sent for: FSU, Ole Miss, Samford, Tulane, Florida, UGA, Memphis, Vandy and Alabama. Bama gave me a fee waiver. Hope that's a good omen.

2/7-IN at Miss. College. Scholarship worth $79,100 awarded which is full tuition scholarship. Top 20% stipulation.

2/15-IN at Jones. Scholarship worth 75% ($69,750) of tuition awarded. Top 1/3 stipulation. Both fall backs came through quick.

2/16-Reject at Texas. Expected, but kills the early streak.

3/1-IN at LSU. First Tier 1 to come through.

3/8-Reject at Emory. Expected.

3/24-Waitlisted at UT-Knoxville!? Caught me by surprise given their 25th/75th for both LSAT and GPA.

3/24-Scholarship notification for LSU. Giving me $21,170 over 3 years. Top 2/3 stipulation.

3/28-Rejected at Florida. A little surprised. LSAT was just under 25th, but I thought my GPA, unique extracurriculars and LORs would cover.

3/29-IN at Ole Miss.

4/13-Waitlisted at Memphis. Doesn't matter to me much, but I see a pattern arising from TN schools.

4/15-IN at Cumberland.

4/15-Seat deposit day at Ole Miss and Jones. No money at Ole Miss yet, and apparently they're very hesitant to offer to OOS students. Not to mention my visit at Ole Miss was horrible. Bad staff, students were trying to lie about statistics, and a parking ticket from the university! After thinking it over without the visit taken into account, I don't think I'd go to Ole Miss with a 75% scholly over LSU with 50% and maybe not MC with 100%. I was still feeling like my emotioins were maybe playing too much into the decision because of the visit until Cumberland accepted. At that moment I felt a lot better about it since I expect I'd get good money from Cumberland and, side by side, I'd pick Cumberland over Ole Miss. And Jones scholarship isn't as good as same tier MC. So I'm withdrawing from both Ole MIss and Jones today.

4/18-I sent withdrawl letters for Jones and Ole Miss today. Asked Jones to give that money to someone else.

4/22-Out at Tulane.

4/25-Waitlisted at FSU. Not what I wanted, but we'll see where this goes for a little while.

5/7-Dinged at Bama. Genuinely upset about this one.

5/14-Rejected at Vandy. All decisions in at this point. Now just waiting for a scholarship offer from Cumberland and any movement on the Waitlists.

5/26-Accepted off the WL at FSU. Funny, cause last night I had come to the conclusion that I would attend LSU in the fall. This throws everything back up in the air.

6/30-Withdrawn from Memphis and Tennessee. I'm fairly set on LSU as the big law firms in the town I want to work in have told me class rank means more to them in terms of hiring than whether a person attends LSU or FSU. As LSU is cheaper, and seeing that the rank of the school isn't a deciding factor in this case, it makes sense to attend LSU. I'm still holding out that Cumberland will offer something substantial in the next week. If they do not, then I will be withdrawing from there soon as well.

How were you notified of waitlist status at FSU?

Did alabama actually send you a letter and does your thing still say "processing" on the status checker? I ask because I've been waiting on bama forever and it'd be nice to know even if it is reject. Good luck with you decision though!
