Additional info & updates

Cycle over!

Attending the University of Michigan for a joint JD and MA in Chinese studies. I'm technically class of 2013 because the joint program takes an extra year.

4/30 - Waitlisted at Stanford via snail mail. I withdrew by email a week ago, so this is a little bit stupid, but I'm also kind of flattered--I was pretty sure my GPA guaranteed me a rejection. Withdrawing again tomorrow with the official form just to be sure.
4/24 - Withdrew from Stanford today. Never got a decision, though maybe there's one in the mail on its way over. Withdrew from Harvard yesterday via mail, partly to give them time to process my travel reimbursement.
4/21 - Mailed my deposit! Waiting to withdraw from Harvard until they reimburse me for travel costs, but my cycle is essentially over. Very happy with how it all worked out!
4/20 - Harvard ASW was fun, but I'm 99% set on Michigan. Michigan's culture and dual degree program are a better fit for me, and much cheaper, too. Have begun withdrawing from schools I know are out. Will review all my info tonight and hopefully mail my deposit tomorrow. I don't expect to hear from Stanford by the end of the day and will probably keep waiting on them just to see what happens.
4/14 - Tentative aid offer of zero dollars from Harvard. Still going to ASW this weekend to see how it is, but with Michigan looking so good, I'm not sure I could justify it. Also, in a poke-the-bear moment, I emailed Stanford to ask for a quick decision (scholarship deadline on 4/20). They replied that they will contact me when they are good and ready, probably by the end of the month. Oh well.
4/11 - Accepted at Columbia! I was a bit concerned that the big envelope was light green instead of the light blue I have seen others report, but the contents are the same. I cannot believe how well this cycle has gone!
4/3 - KB2! Can't believe it! The call went to voicemail while I was at Michigan ASW. Binder arrived 4/9.
3/25 - No call from Harvard during the round of acceptances that went out on Monday. Bummer.
3/20 - KB1. Now, I wait.
3/16 - KB1 email! Holy crap!
3/14 - In at Stanford AND Michigan for Chinese! Got an email from the Stanford Chinese department last night and a letter from UM today. Still waiting for word from Stanford Law, but no worries!
3/9 - In at UCLA, with a merit scholarship! Just got a call from the dean with the good news.
3/2 - Dean's Scholarship at Michigan!! Didn't expect that, so I am ecstatic! Half tuition for three years could well be enough to lure me away from my other top choices.
2/24 - Michigan packet arrived in the mail yesterday. Friendly little handwritten note from the dean was a nice touch.
2/21 - Accepted at Michigan!! So far only confirmed via the admitted students site, so I'm waiting until I get the packet to really celebrate, but I'm so happy. UM is definitely one of my top choices. Go blue!
2/19 - Accepted at Georgetown! The scary little envelope arrived today while I was at work.
2/18 - Georgetown status updated to "Decision" yesterday, but I have to wait for the letter to know what the decision is. Harsh! Meanwhile, my Berkeley acceptance packet finally came in the mail today. It took twelve days to cross the Bay Bridge!
2/7 - I didn't know Georgetown didn't send app status emails. Went to their site and signed up for an account and learned that my app was complete there on 1/29. Good to know.
2/6 - Acceptance email from Berkeley! Previous griping notwithstanding, I'm thrilled! Still bummed about the Chinese rejection, but very happy to have such a good option for law school. And hey, I can always try again for the dual degree if I need to.
1/29 - Rejected by Berkeley's Chinese program yesterday, which means no dual degree there for now. Then today I heard from the law school saying my app is complete. Less excited about Berkeley after the Chinese rejection, but still hoping I get in for law.
