If any other non-traditional students happen upon this profile, please take my advice: Aim high, write well, and cast a wide, wide net. I have been very pleasantly surprised by my success during this admissions cycle. DO NOT listen to people who tell you to lower your standards. They are wrong.

12/03-Phone call from BU--I'm in!

12/07-In @ NYU by mail!!!

12/14-Deferred to RD @ Cornell-Where is the love? I even promised to say "Ithaca is gorges," at least once a week.

1/13-Rejected @ Penn--no ivy on these walls.

1/15-Rejected @ Harvard-do I see a trend here? Maybe I'm just a little TOO non-traditional for my own good. Damn you, low GPA from 1988-89!!!!!

1/21-Accepted at Texas and dinged at Northwestern on the same day. It was also my undergraduate commencement today-Whoohoo!!

1/28-In at Cardozo by phone call. Status checker changed to "Decision rendered and sent," and status page now indicates amounts and due dates for seat deposits.

1/28-I never turned the page on Cardozo's letter-full scholly!!

1/29-Rejected @ Yale via snail mail. No surprises there, and I'm not terribly disappointed.

2/4-In @ Chicago via phone call!!!

Note: It seems that the Ivys are not crazy about me. Maybe I'm a little TOO non-traditional for them. Going into this, I knew that some people were going to love my story, but that some others would feel just as strongly that I did not belong. I am very happy that I applied to as many schools as I have.
