Positives:
A couple of solid volunteer and leadership positions.

Four years active duty military service with an honorable discharge.

Well written personal statement and resume.

Two letters of recommendation from past supervisors that speak very highly of me. I haven't seen the letters, but I'm sure they are really good.

MY GPA was a 2.2 my first two years of school. I took a two year break when I joined the military, and when I restarted I maintained a 3.78 GPA for the next two years of school.

Negatives:
- Attended an online school.

Additional info & updates

I'm not really sure how law schools will look at the fact that I graduated from an online school. I realize this doesn't look very good; however, I'm hoping they won't look too badly at it since I was in the military during that time (deployments and PCs make it more difficult to attend a traditional school). Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

02/02: My second letter of recommendation arrived, so I submitted the bulk of my applications over the weekend.

02/05: Almost all of the schools have requested the reports. Now I'm just waiting for the schools to receive them and mark my file complete and ready for review.

02/05: Florida State University online status checker says a decision has been mailed. I'm a little nervous, because most others on LSN say they were notified by phone call when they were accepted. I would really not like to start with the first decision that I receive back being a rejection.

02/09: I received a phone call from the Dean of Admissions congratulating me on my acceptance to Florida State University. Good way to start the process! Its unlikely that I will go there, and scholarship info is still in the mail, but it feels good to know that I am officially in somewhere.

02/10: I decided that I should apply to a few more "reach" schools this week... just in case.

02/18: I received an e-mail congratulating me on my acceptance to St. Louis University, with an invitation to attend their Admitted Students Weekend.

02/20: I received a large package in the mail today, with an acceptance letter from Pepperdine! I'm pretty excited about that one. However, it looks like I won't be receiving any scholarship offers.

02/24: Status checker at University of Georgia (ranked 32nd) says I have been admitted! I'm starting to think I applied to way too many "safety" schools and not near enough "reaches".

Also received in the mail today a scholarship offer of $69,000 (across 3 years, and maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or above) from Saint Louis University.

02/26: Status updated at University of Illinois to "hold for 2nd review". I really hope I am accepted, but I don't see that as too positive of a sign. If I am accepted there I will immediately withdraw all my other offers and applications.

02/27: Small envelope from Indiana University-Indianapolis with a letter of acceptance.

Also, accepted today at University of Cincinnati through an e-mail that hotmail sent to my junk e-mail box.

03/02: Accepted at American University with a large folder full of a ton of information and catalogs.

03/05: Accepted at Penn State through an e-mail.

03/06: Accepted by mail today at Santa Clara University (with $15,000 per year renewable scholarship), and received an acceptance package from University of Cincinnati (no mention of scholarships).

Also, received a nonresident tuition reduction scholarship offer from University of Georgia worth $8,425!

03/09: Accepted by mail today at Georgia State.

04/07: All of my decisions are pretty much in (I'm still waiting on two more, but I wouldn't attend either one without a minimum of $10,000-$15,000 per year in scholarship money). I've been waitlisted at four of them, and accepted at all of the others. In hindsight, I wish I would have applied to more reaches and a lot less safeties. I'm really hoping for U. of Illinois to pull me off the waitlist, but if they don't I have a number of schools to choose from. I attended the admitted students%u2019 day at Pepperdine and was impressed with a number of things at the school, but there is probably not enough to justify the costs. Therefore, if nothing else changes, I will likely be attending U. of Georgia in the fall.
