Extra Curricular Information

I'm currently working in the admissions office of a private college in southern California. Working here has given me some insight into how admissions decisions are made, so I'm thinking that I had a leg up on working the admissions process to my favor. The results were mixed, but considering my GPA, I think I've done OK.

Additional info & updates

1.15.10: Accepted at BC! My first acceptance! I'm going to law school
1.23.10: Accepted to GWU. I would love to be in DC, but wasn't really that into George Washington. I've got my fingers crossed for Georgetown.
1.27.10: Hastings Acceptance. My first Cali acceptance. I would like to be live in the Bay Area, but am really hoping for Cal
2.02.10: Accepted to Vanderbilt! This is great news. Going to visit Nashville in a few weeks.
2.11.10: Accepted at Tulane. New Orleans could be a great place to go to law school.
2.16.10: Accepted at WashU! This is another one of my top choices. Must schedule a visit to St. Louis
2.18.10: Sad day. Rejected at Cal. We shall not speak of this...
2.19.10: Accepted a BU. Not so crazy about the "law tower" but a great school nonetheless.
2.26.10: Rejected at Georgetown. FML. Not even a waitlist?
3.20.10: Rejected at Columbia. No surprise here.
3.22.10: Accepted at UCLA! This is excellent news! I visited the law school as an undergrad and always thought about attending law school at my alma mater.
3.26.10: NYU rejection. I can't lie- NYU Law would have been pretty cool.
4.7.10: Withdrew from a few schools. Hope this helps somebody on the WL
4.12.10: Very uncertain about where I will end up
4.16.10: Withdrew from Boston College.
4.21.10: Withdrew from Vanderbilt. And then there were two.
4.23.10: It's over. It's finally over. With a slight tear in my eye, I withdrew from UCLA today. As hard as it was to not go back to UCLA for law school, I'm very pleased and excited to select Washington University. Financial aid was a big deciding factor, but I also felt quite at home at Wash U. I'm pumped about starting law school in the fall. Good luck to all still deciding!

My UCLA app focused on my undergrad experience there and my work with a professor in the law school. Wanting to work as a law librarian is a very interesting angle for an essay and the experience working at an academic library is an excellent segway into what made you want to attend law school. Send me a message through my LSN mailbox if you have an questions.
