Additional info & updates

-01.06.2008: I got a fee waiver from William and Mary :); I've also completed the resume and sent out recommendation requests... Now that darn essay...

-01.01.2009: I got an e-mail from Cardozo-Yeshiva offering me a fee waiver :) It's a small token, but I really appreciate it and it really made my day!

-12.30.2008: So I figured I'd start a small record of this journey [through hell]. The truth of the matter is that I'm mortified. I don't know how well I'll do with this list of schools and I don't know what's going to happen. I'm afraid that I won't get into any schools at all, in which case I'd be royally screwed. But all fears aside, ready or not, here the deadlines come. A little background: I'm a University of Virginia student who happened to be bullied into pre-med my first two years of college. I finally stood up and decided to be an English major--but the damage to my GPA had been done: rampant biochemistry depression had landed me in the hospital several times, I never knew what to do in lab (this coming from a girl who can't even cook pasta), and I thoroughly hated every science course I had to take. At this point, I'm very disappointed with my GPA, but there's nothing more I can do to boost it. My LSATs aren't the best either, but again, there's nothing else to do. I'm not realistically looking at Virginia or any of the top 20 schools--it would be a miracle if I got into those schools, but I figure it's worth a shot. The apple of my eye at this point are Minnesota, Wake Forest, Cardozo-Yeshiva, and Illinois. My safe schools are Richmond and Brooklyn. I'm hoping that my self-selected underrepresented minority will give a slight boost in considerations, especially considering my background in sexuality studies and the gay community (I do think the Asian GLBT community is underrepresented--especially in Virginia). Everything else is a mix of instate tuition considerations and reach school antics. Wish me luck!
