Extra Curricular Information

Active member of several clubs and worked throughout college, first generation college student, multiple legal jobs since graduating.

Wrote a "risky" PS which I think really helped me.

Additional info & updates

All $ is a combination of need and merit based except for Michigan, Cardozo and Brooklyn.

Wrote optional essays for Michigan, Georgetown, Penn, NYU, Columbia, Cornell, and Northwestern. Diversity statement re: first generation college student.

8/23 Priority track email from Duke

9/4 Attempted to solicit fee waivers from Georgetown, UCLA, Cardozo, USC, Northwestern, Berkeley, Michigan, Columbia, and Penn. Georgetown and UCLA granted me waivers right away. Berkeley flat out said no, and Columbia, USC and Northwestern said they only offer fee waivers through CRS. (Guess I'm not applying to USC!) Michigan mentioned CRS but said I should email back in mid September if I haven't received one by then. Cardozo requested that I send an application by email including my GPA, LSAT, LSAC number, full name, and resume, which I did. No response from Penn.

9/7 Unsolicited fee waiver from UVA. I guess I'll apply!

9/14 Solicited waiver from Cardozo

10/1 Solicited fee waiver from Michigan upon sending them a second email. Such sweetie pies. GWU and Cornell rejected my request.

10/16 Fee waiver from W&M via email. Hidden fee waiver from Northwestern. :)

10/18 Got the email from Northwestern telling me I had a fee waiver.

11/5 In at Georgetown via small envelope at home. Personal note on it saying my PS was thoughtful and open. I hope other adcomms agree! Really stoked on this because GTown was my first choice three years ago when I applied with my old score.

11/27 In at Michigan via status checker. Wooo!

12/5 Interview with a Northwestern alum (off-campus). We chatted for about an hour and a half and he said he loved me. Super nice guy.

12/10 Deferred to RD by Cornell. I am disappointed but oh well.

12/17 Deferred to RD by NYU. Kill me.

12/22 Scholarship letter from Michigan.

1/3 Waitlisted via email at UVA. I didn't write a Why UVA or anything so I don't know if I'm going to try to get in off the WL.

1/8 In at Cardozo via phone call. $40k/year Dean's scholarship. I think that is less than they gave me last time (???).

1/17 In at Penn via phone call. AHHHH! UCR dates: 11/20 and 12/21.

1/18 In at Cornell via email. Somewhat surprised being as my LOCI was a one sentence email.

2/26 Held at Columbia. Stoked I wasn't rejected!

2/28 Financial aid award from Penn. Not enough to entice me.

4/23 Just got into Columbia. I am in shock.

4/26 So I guess my cycle is over. I'm going to have to see how the need-based aid works out from CLS but otherwise I am so happy. I don't know how I outperformed my numbers so much. I should have applied to Harvard!

5/17 Just deposited and got my paperwork to defer at Columbia until next fall. See you at CLS in 2014!

Our numbers are similar so good luck to both of us with our imbalanced numbers. I look forward to seeing ur results as I presume they will be a foreshadowing of mine.
