Additional info & updates

I put this up because I've utilized the online pre-law community so I wanted to share my experience as it occurs incase someone will find it useful.

Here's other helpful info:
I'm a "1.5" generation immigrant, and moved to the U.S. when I was 7 from an Eastern European country. Experience as immigrant was focus of my PS.

Also had an underage drinking infraction when I was in high school to which I wrote an addendum. No other infractions since, judicial or school related.

Here we go!

12/21 -- Email for GULC group interview
1/4 -- GULC group interview
1/21 -- NYU DLS mailed
1/25 -- In via Admitted Students Website
1/27 -- Columbia & NYU acceptance letters!!
1/31 -- In at Georgetown via ASW
2/9 -- Waitlisted at UVA, going to be withdrawing soon.
2/10 -- Waitlisted at Chicago, will be withdrawing there as well.

4/25 - My cycle has been over for a while now. Sorry I didn't post scholarship dates. The big decision for me was between NYU & Columbia. NYU gave me a larger scholarship, but when you factor in their housing costs and the difference as a total percentage of loans I'll have to take out, its minimal, so I went with my first choice, Columbia :)

I think some of the WLs were because my GPA was a little bit low coming out of a lower ranked UG, and I applied in December/January.

If I could give advice to anyone reading this who is applying right now, it would be these 3 tips:
1) Study hard for the LSAT, it's the biggest thing you can control.
2) Apply early to have a competitive edge.
3) Go where you'll be happiest. Law school is one of the biggest decisions of your life aside from where you go to UG and who you marry. Life is limited, don't waste it being unhappy!

Thanks LSN, you've been a big help!

Did you intern or volunteer in any legal

Hi! I also major in Econ and am setting Columbia as my first choice. I'm applying this fall, and I'm just wondering if you had worked or volunteered at any legal aid or law firm in any position before, and whether you think getting this kind of exposure to the legal field is important in demonstrating interest in law/important factor in the application? Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and I would appreciate it a lot if you could share this bit of info!
