Additional Information
3/9/09 - GTown, Prefered Waitlist (special secret edition). I should have applied earlier.
3/18/09 - W&M, Last school I applied to, first acceptance. I applied 3/1, the letter was dated 3/16, quick turnaround. $15k per year scholarship. Nice.
3/28/09 - In at Vandy. Forget a big envelope, they sent me a box full of stuff. But W&M, in addition to the scholarship, has now also sent me a key chain and some W&M Law post-it notes. - Well done W&M, you have my attention.
3/31/09 - Waitlist email from UVa. That one hurts. I'm in state, and my numbers are more than enough. Just makes it obvious that my late applications are killing me.
4/3/09 - In off the waitlist at GT! Personal note from Andrew Cornblatt. These folks know how to treat folks.
4/10/09 - Several decisions in a row, no one wants to reject me, just not many schools have room. Waitlist at Penn and Duke, in at Emory. Visited Vandy for admitted students day and really liked it. W&M and G'town visits next week.
Still expecting scholarship offers from Vandy and G'town in the next few days. And who knows maybe Yale, Harvard or Columbia will pop in and give me a surprise. Shocked I haven't heard from W&L yet.
4/14/09 - Didn't enjoy W&M much, really I just visited b/c of the history and the scholarship, but it didn't seem to match up anywhere close to Vandy, plus Vandy may still offer me a scholarship, I should hear in the next week or so. Either way, W&M is out, money or not.
Still haven't heard from Yale, Harvard or Columbia (or W&L strangely enough), there is a lesson here...apply early. On the brightside I have no actual rejections, just waitlists so far, so at least if I'm not getting into places I know they like me. Seems like I'd be pretty happy with the results if I had applied early enough. If I had something else to do I might consider reapplying next year in October to see what happens, but the wife and I are ready to get this "career" thing started.
In the meantime, I am quite pleased with the opportunity to pick between Vandy and G'town.
4/15/09 - Finally rejected at Yale. It was about time. I mean I knew my numbers were good enough that it was borderline possible, but I still figured it wasn't happening, so good to get it out of the way. Maybe now the last few will start to come in.
4/21/09 - Big money from Vandy, looking good for the 'Dores.
