Stanford has always been my top choice law school. As a backup I also applied to good schools that were more likely than most to give me merit aid/discount based on my CA resident status and interest in econ. Tried to keep my list small so that I could a) not drive myself crazy and b) ask my recommenders to write targeted letters.
