Georgetown $$$ is a combination of need and merit, but is a guaranteed scholarship.

Per a member of the Georgetown scholarship committee:

Because I received at least $18,000/year in need aid, my need aid was added to my original scholarship offer for a guaranteed total of $30,000/year for three years.

Dean Cornblatt likes even numbers, so my scholarship was rounded to the nearest amount.

If I had not received any need aid, I would have only been awarded a $5,000/year scholarship.

Based on what I observed on TLS:

In order to be sure that you will be considered for a scholarship at Georgetown, you need to request to be considered. Call the admissions office after you are accepted and ask, "What do I need to do to be considered for a scholarship?"

Do it. I did and look what it got me.
