Extra Curricular Information

Treasurer, Student Business Council
TA my final 2 years of undergrad
Various volunteer work around my community, you know just the typical stuff.

I am a former United States Marine and recipient of the Purple Heart. I did one tour in Iraq in 2005 before being honorably discharged. While all of my friends were going off to college I wanted to serve my country before I joined them. I had a tough time adjusting to school my first year out and my GPA suffered, I was placed on academic probation... yikes (addendum sent to all schools). Since, I have maintained a steady upward trend in my GPA. I believe that I have strong softs that should make up for a few rough spots on my application. We shall see. Good luck to everyone.

P.S. Applying to Texas, Houston and Texas Tech due to GI Bill.

All scholarship info is for 3 years.

P.P.S. I applied to a few safety schools that are not listed on my list of schools. I will try to post any updates from them on the Additional Info list.

Additional info & updates

11/22: All applications out. Playing the waiting game now. Most of these are probably reaches but hey, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take right.

12/2: In at UM via phone call, nice touch. *Excited*

12/3: Second acceptance so far, this time from Rutgers-Camden offering me $16,000 per year as a Forensis of Justicia Scholar award.

12/9: Today was a good news/bad news day. First the good news, UMN is giving me $60,000 in scholarship money. The bad news, I recieved my first ding from Penn via email.

12/12: Rejection via email from NYU; Status check from BC saying that a decision has been rendered and letter sent. I wonder what that can mean? What this means is that I didn't get in... (updated 12/23)

12/22: I recieved an expected rejection letter from Columbia via snail mail. In at IUPUI. Decision letter sent from Arizona.

12/23: Not likely to hear anything for the next few days so I wanted to wish everyone a merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

01/10: In at UK via email. Official acceptance packet in the mail :-) Starting off the new year in a good way!

01/23: In at Loyola-Chicago. Love the city, beautiful campus and good recruiting numbers in/around Chi-town. Will definately consider

01/25: Okay, so it's been awhile since my last post. Got dinged at Georgetown and Cornell... this was much expected. Looks like my last shot for a T14 is Texas, maybe my alma mater will show me some love.

01/31: Accepted at SMU via phone call, nice! Only problem is that it is for the PT evening program. I applied to both because honestly, I didn't expect to get into as many schools as I have so far. Does anyone know if you can go from PT to FT at SMU? On another note I was denied at UH, there goes one of my Texas GI schools... 2 more to go.

02/01: Got a phone call today from UT congratulating me on my acceptance... Dinged at ASU which sucks, the girls there are hot! Waitlisted at Tech... Looks like my last hope is for Texas to come through, I can be optimistic!

02/08: Well, Texas did not come through. Can't say that this wasn't expected but disappointed none the less. I am going to probably wait out to hear back from WUSL before making my decision.

03/10: I haven't been on here in awhile so here is an update on my cycle so far. Since my last post I have been accepted to Rutgers- Newark and I am still waiting to hear from WUSL. I have completed all of my financial aid apps and am just trying to decide where i will end up this fall.

I started sending the withdraw emails to yesterday. Not expecting to receive any financial aid based on my LSAT/GPA, however, it would be nice to receive in-state tuition. Didn't realize a state school would cost $43,000 a year. Worth it though.

Did you receive your admissions packet from Minnesota yet? Still waiting on mine and hoping it will list info regarding scholarship.

Received my packet with an 8K scholarship offer. Not as high as I wanted, but I am not complaining. The in-state tuition was raised to $39K. That rate is still difficult for me to grasp for a state school.
