Withdrew from the Ottawa wait list today, which officially ends my cycle. Am studying at the University of Montreal (started last week) and really loving it so far. Will be applying to their joint Law/MBA 3-year degree, as well as more than likely pursuing their 4th year exchange for a Common Law degree with Oz, Ottawa, Dal, or UBC. That's it for me (for now)!!
30/08/10
Received a letter from Queen's stating that they will not be making any more offers to the wait list for this cycle. There's my official ding! Just Ottawa to go (and it should be the same case)!
26/08/10
Infoweb update again for the Ottawa wait list. I am now at position 140. Started law school this week at UdeM however, so Queen's and Ottawa are really just formalities and curiosity as to whether I get in or not.
29/07/10
Infoweb update for my Ottawa wait list. Went from 323 of 599 to 232 of 407. And the waiting game continues...
20/07/10
Checked Infoweb today and saw that I was refused from the PDC program at Ottawa. Now only waiting on the wait list results from the LL.B. at Ottawa and the J.D. at Queen's.
08/07/10
Received an email from Queen's today (first I hear from them since their confirmation message of my application) putting me on the wait list. We'll see how that turns out.
07/07/10
Checked my OASIS account today and got the "Denied" from Osgoode dated 30/06/2010. I'm not all that disappointed being that I wasn't looking at moving to Toronto come fall, but I still am a bit surprised. I was expecting an admit to Oz, or at least a wait list. Just Ottawa and Queen's to go now before my cycle is officially over.
18/06/10
Update from my wait list at Ottawa for their LL.B. I've been ranked 323rd on a waiting list of 559. Still no news from the PDC program. After some thought, I will be declining my acceptance to the McGill MBA program this weekend, so it's looking very much as though I'll be at the University of Montreal come September. Just hoping I get an acceptance to their joint Law/MBA program during 1L. Still waiting on Oz and Queen's as well.
04/06/10
All's quiet on the western front... Still on Hold at Oz (first Hold from the 7th of January, and then a second Hold on the 26th of April with a comment: "Hold for wait list review", whatever that means), on the unnumbered wait list at Ottawa (and still no news on the PDC side), and absolutely nothing from Queen's. Sent my final transcripts to OLSAS today. The waiting game continues for law school. On another note, I received an email saying that I was admitted to the MBA program at McGill today, so I now have the option of either attending the MBA at McGill and applying for the joint MBA/Law degree during my first year, or attending UdeM Law and applying to the HEC MBA in my first year for their joint degree. Decisions decisions... The McGill MBA is about $29,000 a year, but I did get a $15,000 scholarship over the two years. For now, still leaning towards UdeM. We'll see.
21/05/10
Had my MBA interview at McGill today. Didn't last long; maybe 20 minutes. The director seemed very interested in me and pretty much said that if I were accepted in the law program, or if I waited two years, that I'd be a shoe-in for the MBA. I got the feeling that he mostly just liked my GMAT score (760). Seemed very enthusiastic about McGill having the highest average GMAT score in Canada. Anyway, as it stands, I'm not holding my breath. We'll see... At this point even if I were accepted to the MBA program at McGill, I'd most likely still be going to UdeM come September.
23/04/10
Just checked Minerva and got the big 'Ol "Refused" from McGill. Very disappointed being that it was my first choice. Was just finalizing my app for their MBA program this week to try for the joint Law/MBA degree. We'll see what the MBA has to say and then I'll re-evaluate my options, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll probably end up down the street at the University of Montreal. Still waiting to hear from Ottawa, Queen's and Oz. Sad news... Oh well. Life goes on.
21/04/10
Waitlisted today at Ottawa for their LL.B. program. It's an unnumbered waiting list. Still pending for their joint LL.B/LL.L PDC program. We'll see how it goes.
20/04/10
Applied to the McGill MBA program today to try and get into their joint Law/MBA degree. Still waiting to hear back from Ottawa, Queen's, Oz and McGill.
14/04/10
Declined my Windsor acceptance today.
09/04/10
Attended the University of Montreal's new students greeting yesterday. Wasn't all that insightful, but the atmosphere seems amazing. The facilities aren't the best, but they have undergone some renovations and are planning some more for the summer. Some interesting student groups and programs. Definitely high up on my list. We'll see how the rest of the cycle turns out!
06/04/10
In at Windsor as of today. Found out through SIS. I will be turning down the acceptance in favor of the University of Montreal, but it's still nice to hear.
31/03/10
Declined my Western acceptance today.
30/03/10
In at University of Montreal today! Pretty excited being that it's pretty much my 2nd choice after McGill. I only have until the 6th of April to accept or decline though, so will have to make my decision soon. I have 1 more day to reply to Western, but will probably be declining at this point. Kind of sucks, because I do really like their programs, but the location and price are throwing me off. Still nothing from the other schools. On "Hold" at Oz, RFR at McGill and under review at Windsor and Ottawa. Queen's has been dead silent.
24/03/10
Received a French Language Proficiency Test convocation letter from the University of Montreal today. I'll be applying for exemption due to having done high-school in French in Quebec. No word from any other schools so far. Somewhat frustrating. I'll have to decide whether to provisionally accept Western or not in the next couple of days.
28/01/10
I submitted my electronic application as well as forwarded my transcripts to the University of Montreal today. We'll see how that goes, they have a very respectable law school and have some interesting programs such as an exchange with Osgoode for a Common Law degree. My updated transcripts have also been received by both McGill and OLSAS today, so I'm eagerly awaiting to see if they have any impact on my admission decisions!
20/01/10
Got my rejection letter from UofT today. Not all that unexpected, but I was hoping that they would have at least waited to consider my Fall grades. Kind of bummed, but still waiting on a few schools so we'll see.
18/01/10
All my grades are finally in and my transcripts sent. Glad to see my GPA boosted from 3.37 to 3.48 (3.41 as calculated by OLSAS though) after this last semester. In at Western so far, now to see how these new transcripts help my chances at other schools.
05/01/10
Just received my acceptance offer from Western through the Student Center. Very happy to have heard back from a school this early. Western isn't at the top of my list however, so I will have to wait and see what Oz, UofT and McGill say. I also have yet to receive all of my final grades in order to forward my updated transcripts to schools. As of now, my GPA has boosted from a 3.37 to a 3.44 (still waiting on two more grades).
Amazing LSAT score! Was that your first attempt at the LSAT?
