3/31: Good god another waitlist. This time at Minnesota. I think I'll probably withdraw from this one. My cycle has not been going well lately; last 4 decisions 3 WL, 1 reject... But I've still gotten into some great schools. Only waiting on USC now.
3/29: Waitlisted at Washington (one of 150 applicants to get the WL). Really dissapointed since I really enjoyed my visit there and felt really confident I'd get in. I'll probably remain try to get pulled off this one as well as Vandy's.
3/23: Recieved waitlist letter from Vandy the other day; I'll pursue this WL and write a LOCI, since I just feel Vandy would be a great fit for me. I also recently visited U-Dub- it was a great experience and I'd love to go there; I was told they'll be mailing my decision this week so I'm hoping for the best. I also attended a reception for GW admitted students on the 18th; they have some really impressive alumni (some of whom quite frankly were more cool and down to earth than I expected). Going to school in DC would give me so many great opportunities, and they seem to place pretty well even on the West Coast, but 2 things give me pause about the school: 1) Financial Aid- I've been told there is no more scholarship money, so I'll just be looking at need based grants for a school with super high tuition and cost of living and 2) The large class size. With 500 students per entering class, plus another 500 from Georgetown, that's alot of competetion in DC; I know there are alot more avenues to use your law degree there, but I just wonder about being able to distinguish myself from the pack.
3/13: Well things have been pretty quiet on the admissions front for the past week and a half. My status checkers at Wash and Minn just updated but I'm still listed as "In Review". With deposit deadlines in about a month, I'd really like to get the rest of my decisions, but these schools seem to be dragging thier feet. I'm scheduling some visits and will just proceed like I won't get into the rest of the schools I've applied to I suppose.
3/2: Rejected at Berkeley via status checker today. I knew when I applied that my chance of getting in was extremely unlikely but damn...They'll be sending me a letter verifying my rejection soon. On the bright side I got a call from a very nice Wisconsin student asking me if I had any questions; it seems like a great school and I definitely will give them consideration if I recieve a scholarship offer. I've been told to expect one around mid-March.
3/1: Received Admissions packet and scholarship offer from Arizona yesterday. I suppose it could be nice to live in the sunshine for 3 years and get a tan while studying law.
2/25: Scholarship Update:
UIUC: I'd have to say I'm leaning towards Illinois at this point; 15K a year for where its ranked, plus the good vibes I get from their admissions people. Time to schedule a visit.
CHICAGO KENT: 1st year full tuition, plus 20K for both 2nd and 3rd years provided I keep a 3.25GPA. Alternately, I could accept 18K/year, no strings attached. Its nice they give you options, I suppose.
GEORGIA: 1 term tuition reduction worth $8,425. Basically would leave me paying only 1 term out of state tuition there, and in state very cheap. I'd like to see more of an offer, though...
CARDOZO: 27,000 a year (have to keep a 3.3GPA/stay in top 40% of class) 5,000 a year Public Service scholarship. 32K a year won't quite cover tuition (42K a year), any NY cost of living is scary, but its still a really good offer for me.
2/17: Accepted by phone call at Cardozo today (with some nice scholarship info which I'll update later) and by email at Chicago-Kent yesterday. I know they're both "Tier 2" schools, but they both seem to be very well respected and have very solid programs.
2/13: Accepted at GW via email. Haven't really heard any info about scholarships yet and this makes me anxious, as financial considerations will play a huge roll in where I decide to enroll. Hopefully some come down eventually.
1/29: Awoke to an acceptance email from Dean Pless at Illinois.
1/26: Just got a waitlist email for UVA this evening. Can't say I'm suprised; it seems they waitlist everyone. I deem this more as a polite rejection, since there are so many people waitlisted there with stronger numbers, and I'm not sure it'd be worth it to send a letter of continued interest...
1/24: Just got accepted via snail mail letter at UW-Madison. Very excited since it seems like a terrific school.
1/13: So my 1st acceptance was UGA on Jan 6th. I'm still awaiting their acceptance packet in the mail with what will hopefully be a scholarship offer... The only weird thing to me is I haven't even recieved a confirmation from UArizona that they've recieved my app. Weird. Also got an email tonight that I am under review at Berkeley, so I'm commencing with my prayers.
Thanks. I was really hoping for an acceptance because I really liked the school, but I knew I had about a 50/50 shot there. Best of luck to you. Hopefully they'll give you better news than they gave me.
