Graduating with Honors (requires thesis)

Good Resume-impressive full-time and part-time work experience. Some volunteer work and a lot of good extracurricular activities.

2 LORs-both from professors that I know very well. I am certain that they were quite strong.

I worked hard on my Personal Statement and I am pretty confident that it could push me over the edge in a school where my numbers are borderline.

I included a Diversity Statement to all schools that offer that option. Though I am not racially diverse I have a somewhat unique background and upbringing.

Married and have a child.

01-20-07: William and Mary Priority Mail packet with acceptance and offer of scholarship. Very Excited for first acceptance! I am going to Law School.

01-26-07: Washington and Lee acceptance via email. No mention of scholarship yet, but I am interested in attending here. BTW, I never received a complete notice, so that date is approximate.

02-01-06: Wake Forest acceptance in large envelope. This is good because I really love NC.

02-03-07: Email acceptance from BYU. Scholarship info. en-route

02-05-07: I am saying that I am complete at ND because it has been 4 weeks since they have recieved my app and they have not notified me of any missing items.

02-06-07: I received an e-mail from Emory to participate in an online chat for admitted students, but have not yet received my any decision. I called them and they confirmed my acceptance.

02-08-07: Email acceptance to Indiana Law.

02-09-07: Official acceptance letter from BYU arrived. It had specific references to my PS. Very classy.

02-10-07: Priority Mail packet from IUB. It contained a hand-written note, a folder about the school and town, and a scholarship.

02-17-07: Small white rejection from UW. I would not have gone here over some of the schools I already got into anyway, but the rejection stings.

02-23-07: Small white rejection from Duke. I never really expected to get in, but it was far and away my first choice. Not surprised, but extremely disappointed.

02-26-07: Waitlist from ND sent to my permanent address. I am not real surprised, but I think would enjoy ND, so I am going to stay on the list and maybe send some supplemental stuff for my application.

03-10-07: Waitlist from GW. I am staying on.

03-19-07: Cornell Online Status Check went to decision. I was out of town so I called and found out that I have been deferred. I am actually very excited that I still have a chance at being admitted. Very pleasant phone conversation BTW.

03-20-07: Scholarship offer from Emory. This places them back in contention.

03-24-07: GULC rejection sent to my permanent address. I would not have gone there anyway. I am also going to withdraw from GW waitlist.

03-28-27: Waitlisted at UT via email--staying on.

03-30-07: Waitlisted at WUSTL. Staying on--all these waitlists are taking their toll on me. I hope I get into at least one of them.

04-02-07: At this point I am leaning toward Emory if I do not get in off any waitlists.

04-14-07: Vandy's online status check says a decision was mailed on 4-12. Also, I sent in my first deposit to Emory.

04-16-07: Waitlisted at Vandy. Arrgh!!

04-17-07: recieved email from UNC stating that decisions should be given by May 1. I will not go there regardless of the decision.

04-21-07: I have a letter of continued interest and an additional letter of reccomendation on the way to the waitlist schools that I am still interested in: WUSTL, Cornell, UT, and Vandy.

05-07-07: WLed at UNC. It took them long enough. I am withdrawing. No word yet from any of the waitlist schools that I am staying on.

06-26-07: recieved a letter from Cornell upgrading me from the reserve list to the summer waiting list. The letter was dated 6-22-07. I am holding out hope.

07-26-07: I am putting the Attending A on Emory. Right now it seems likely that I will not get in off any waitlists. I am excited to move to ATL and to get my law career started at ELS. If I do not hear from Cornell, Vandy, or UT, this will be my last update to LSN.
