Extra Curricular Information

I have attended graduate school full-time while working full-time for a health care company, so I have not had much time for extracurricular activities in graduate school. I hope my schools will look favorably upon my work experience since undergrad. I did many activities during my undergraduate career and I also took mostly honors classes, which both help to account for my low GPA. The following are my undergraduate honors and extracurricular activities:

HONORS:
*GPA in Major: 3.52
*Chancellors List (during last 30 hours)
*Honors College Scholar
*National Award for Minority Academic Achievement
*TOPS Honors Scholarship Recipient (all four years)

UNDERGRADUATE ACTIVITIES:
*University Ambassador
*Started a volunteer organization
*Student Government Executive Staff
*Vice-President of Minority Recruitment Program
*Worked Part-time throughout 4 years

*Additional Involvement:
Karate Club (orange belt)
Minority Recruitment Program (Student Leader)
Union Program Council: Homecoming and Tigers After Ten Committees
Students United Around Volunteering and Entertaining
Office of Disability Services Notetaker
Dance Ensemble
Code of Student Conduct Committee

Additional info & updates

I am currently in graduate school at a different state university than where I completed my undergraduate degree. I will finish with an MBA in December 2009. My anticipated graduate GPA is 3.5 - 3.7. I still have a semester left, so it is early to tell. I am hoping that my graduate GPA will be a nice enhancement to my applications. I know schools care more about the undergraduate GPA, but I think it will help my chances of getting into a top law school.

I took the LSAT in 2005, but my score was low because I did not take it seriously. Unfortunately, that 160 is still a live score that I will have to contend with when I take the LSAT again in September.

I am applying to some reach schools like Harvard, Yale, Duke, and Georgetown because I'm hoping they will look favorably upon my graduate studies. I think if I was going solely on my undergraduate work, I wouldn't have a chance. I have proven that I can succeed in a graduate program, so now I just need to focus on raising my LSAT!

I added Cornell, UT-Austin, and Emory to my list. For now my school list is tentative depending upon my September LSAT and the number of fee waivers I get. I will adjust my school choices accordingly.

As far as the race debate that is going on on LSN, I'd appreciate it if you keep those comments to yourself.

9/26/09 I took my second LSAT. I will post my score once I get it.

9/27/09 Conditionally awarded LSAC fee waiver. I sent in paperwork for verification, and, hopefully, I will be approved. Since the LSAC fee waiver opens the gateway for application fee waivers, it would allow me to apply to all my choices! Wish me luck!

10/08/09 LSAC fee wavier approved! I am super excited because I can afford to apply to all my choices now!

10/16/09 Received LSAT results. Officially bombed it. I will be retaking it in December! Thank goodness for that fee waiver!

If we get into the same school we need to have a celebration drink! If you raise your score, you should definitely add some more top schools on your list, you have a lot of nice softs

Yea application fees are a pain, but improving your score would def help with fee waivers also. Yea I'm taking it this month, studying like crazy. How's your studying going? any improvements?

I'm making progress, a lot of scores in the upper 160's also but a few in the lower 170's too. I still plan to do a lot of studying though. I'll look forward to that drink we'll have in Cambridge lol, last one to gets in buys!
