Extra Curricular Information

11/2008 Scores are how I think admissions committees will actually view me, so take with a grain of salt. I'll put in my real scores and an explanation later. Dates are approximate for reasons of laziness.

3/2009 UPDATE: I have set my scores to actual scores.

If my cycle shows anything, I think it is that even if bad scores are enough to keep otherwise attractive candidates out, good numbers are not enough to get you in when there are legitimate reasons to doubt that they are accurate predictors. I think this is the case with me, for the following reasons:

I took the LSAT twice, and even though schools now only report the higher score, it is a worse predictor of success.
My 3.3 degree GPA is foreign, so doesn't count. The 4.0 comes from one semester I spent abroad in the US--which is really not enough to go on.
Also, my grad school GPA was about 3.3, which further indicates that 3.3 might be a better predictor.

Additional info & updates

3/15/2009 I told NU I would withdraw from all other schools if they upped the $$s and then agreed. I'm done!

3/1/2009 NU gave me some love money-wise, so now it is a touch choice.

In at Northwestern! I have always had a good feeling about NU, but I think I might take $$$ at Texas over nothing at NU. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Rejections from Berkeley, Yale, and Stanford. I guess I'd reject me too if I were them, so fair game.

No $$s from Georgetown, but full tuition from Texas, UIUC, and BU. At the moment Texas is looking promising.

1/1/2009 Georgetown, Woot! My goal was always to crack the T14 and I really like the look of Georgetown, so its all gravy from here on in; hopefully gravy with $$s floating in it.
