Mercer, GSU, Iowa

congrats on the strong cycle thus far! every school you applied to is a school i applied to or gave serious consideration about applying to. If you have any questions about Mercer or Georgia State then I would love to try to help you answer them. Currently I am deciding between GA State and Iowa, but I hope to hear from Utah and throw them into the mix. Is there anything you can tell me about Iowa? I have yet to go up there and see the campus or spend any time in the state. Best of luck!

thanks for the iowa feedback. i keep hearing really positive things. mercer is interesting and i must say that i am far from an expert. it wasn't long ago that mercer was a top 100 law school and sat nicely as an alternative school to Emory and UGA for those who couldn't quite get there LSAT scores to where they needed to be. however, mercer now finds itself off any type of ranking system and it looks like it is there to stay. i know some people who graduated from mercer and have big time jobs in the atlanta market. it is possible. and, like everything else, if you succeed in law school you should be fine. if you work hard and do great at mercer, i believe you will be rewarded. now the negatives. macon blows. it is awful. there is nothing there, nothing around it, and the city is extremely divided and unsafe. from what i have heard, blacks and whites live in separate parts of the county and the wealth disparity is quite large. the campus is in a not so safe part of town. mercer is also extremely expensive. with no scholarship money, it is not worth the investment (i think you'll get money though b/c you have good scores). lastly, it is the fourth best school in the state and therefore, it does get that reputation. Whereas people recognize GSU as a potential big time player in the near future, there is no talk about mercer coming up. i hope this helps. i will be in iowa soon to check out IC. let me know if i can help you in anyway.
