Accepted at FIU
$13k - Case
$12k - DePaul
$8k - Quinnipiac
$8k - IUB -- came with acceptance letter and personal note from Dean Long.
$6k - Hofstra - While I appreciate the money, the remaining tuition and cost of living expenses make my attending here very unlikely. In addition, the seat deposit is crazy high! Yikes!
$18k - Presidential Merit Scholarship from Capital
4/2 Withdrew from Hofstra and Quinnipiac this week. Received UK acceptance and Hofstra t-shirt today!
4/7 Currently visiting Indiana. Called Stetson and told my decision was put in the mail today and that I should expect good news. Woo hoo!
4/8 IUB open house. IUB, UK and Stetson(hopefully are on my short list). I was very impressed with the IUB students and the law building is great. Bloomington is ok, parking is CRAZY and it's full of undergrads. I really wanted to come here and be wowed, but it didn't happen.
4/9 Stetson acceptance today but no love($$), however Stetson near the top of my list. Interestingly, Stetson had their spring open house for prospectice students today - ya think they could have called me or emailed me about me? I REALLY would have liked to go to this. The Stetson lady could have told me on the phone! Sheesh.
4/13 Stetson tour and class visit today. Again, I really am hoping to be wowed by a school. The tour guide couldn't stop talking about how much she hated Tampa and didn't really want to go to Stetson in the first place - not exactly a great salesperson for Stetson. The class was great, I enjoyed the professor and the students seemed happy.
4/14 - Visiting Kentucky this weekend. Have heard NOTHING from Columbia or Cardozo - I'm starting to wonder if I hallucinated sending in those applications.
4/19 - Withdrew from DePaul today. Very sad! Even though I know I don't want to move to Chicago...the offer was very generous.
4/28 - I'm on hold at FSU. I've sent them letter of continued interest. Can't beat the tuition. Have modified my existing philosophy of trying to go to the best school I can get into (IUB) to trying to go to the best school in the state I want to work in (FSU). Otherwise, Stetson here I come.
6/7/5 - Well, things change. Still haven't heard from FSU. Every week for the past four weeks I have been told by FSU "you will have a decision by the end of the week". I understand they are overwhelmed with applicants, however the length of time needed to make a decision on my file indicates to me that I will probably not be a good fit there for whatever reason. I'm disappointed because 1) I've always wanted to go to FSU 2) It's got some great clinical programs and a great reputation in Florida 3) It's the alma mater of everyone in my family except me. However, IUB came through in a big way for me this weekend and I am now planning on going there. I'm very excited! I'm nervous about moving so far away to someplace completely new, but I believe it has a ton to offer to my girls and I.
6/23 - FSU officially waitlisted me. I knew it would happen, but I am totally ready to move now. IUB -- here I come. The moving guy is reserved, I've got my housing - we're ready to go.
I had a LOR from a man who used to be a law professor there. I also took classes at the undergraduate school for a semester and received a 3.67. Maybe those helped. Good luck with the rest of your apps.
