Additional info & updates

Georgia is my #1 by a country mile. After that, whoever will give me the most filthy lucre.

1/15/10-- In @ George Mason via phone call. Can't afford Alexandria anyway, but a good start.

1/16/10-- In @ UGA via status checker. I'm pumped.

1/29/10-- Just received a letter from UGA notifying that I qualify for a Merit Scholarship of $3000 per year.

02/01/10-- In at Georgia State via snail mail. I HATE Atlanta.

02/09/10-- Haven't heard from anybody in a while. I'm starting to get a little skittish about UGA, I really don't want alot of debt, I'm estimating about 40-50 k of debt at Georgia by graduation even with my little scholarship. That said, if anybody (Baylor?) steps up and opens the wallet, I would be willing to listen.

02/11/10-- Got an email from Illinois informing me that I had been denied. Don't care, the only reason I applied is that they gave me a fee waiver. I had no desire to go north anyway and I wouldn't have considered them anyway. I knew I had made a couple of typos in my app to them and I didn't bother to send a correction. It does sting a little though, I had hoped to go for the sweep.

02/12/10-- Got an email from Cincinatti. Weird, it didn't say anything about being accepted, but invited me for an accepted student campus visit. So... I guess I'm in.

02/15/10-- Got a voicemail and a thick package from Ole Miss today. I'm in, but no word on a scholarship... Where's that money?

02/16/10-- Called Ole Miss back. They said they don't have alot of money for out of state students, but I probabley will qualify for a reduction down to instate price.

02/16/10-- Got a package from Stetson. Accepted, but didn't say anything about a scholarship.

02/16/10-- Got a package from Drake. Accepted with a 20,000 scholarship renewable each year depending on class rank.

02/19/10-- Got a package from Baylor. Accepted, with a $7,000 scholarship renewable for each of the first 6 quarters of enrollment. Nice money, but $42,000 maximum out of $117,000 is hardly enough to tempt me to move cross country. UGA is looking better every day.

02/19/10-- Also finally got an official decision from Cincinatti. I'm in, just like I thought.

2/22/10-- Got a little envelope from Liberty. I'm in, with scholarship information to follow.

2/22/10-- Got a nice little note from Baylor telling me how much they want me. How sweet, but it's going to take about 75,000 more reasons to get me in the fold.

3/05/09-- Got a little envelope from Samford accepting me and saying that I have to be in Birmingham on Tuesday for an interview if I want a scholarship and i have to RSVP by today.

3/09/10-- Attended an interview/tour at Samford. Seriously it's the most beautiful campus I've ever seen and the facilities are fantastic. However, I do not want to live in Birmingham and Samford seems to be pretty inbred with the city. Every time I asked about jobs, they just talked about the legal community in the city.
The interview itself was a joke, they just asked if I had any questions for them and if I had had any interviews with other schools. It was kind of a surprise.

03/11/10-- Got a Fedex Envelope from Stetson offering me a full ride! My first one!

04/01/10-- Sent my seat deposit to UGA. I'm happy and grateful to God for the situation He's placed me in. I hope my cycle has/will help any others coming from a similar situation, and I'll be happy to answer any questions about my experience in the future.

That UGA scholarship is the icing on the cake, isn't it? Congrats!

I didn't really care about Miami (just wanted to be able to say they offered me 23k and I turned it down... lol). I'm definitely hoping Wake Forest works out though. I am seriously considering retaking in June and reapplying next cycle. I can get upper 160's lower 170's for sure, so that would get me some money to Wake. I'm just waiting for the rest of this cycle to pan out to make the decision.

I did

Check out Baylor... I liked the conservative/christian emphasis (and I think it stands out as far as reputation/rankings vs. other schools like Liberty/Regent). However, I am not sure I could move to Texas for it. I might move to Texas for UTexas, but not for Baylor. Same goes to Ole Miss. I'm really hoping for UNC to accidentally admit me or maybe get off the Wake Forest waitlist. I'm going to try to make the best of the cycle as I can and then take the June LSAT and see if I can justify sitting out a year for it (and maybe aiming for Duke or UVA). Anyway, what have you been up to since leaving our wonderful Mecca homeland?

still deciding, have it down to UGA (I'm an alumni), Duke, and Cornell. If you are considering Georgia Athens is a great town

You still so gotta go to UGA. That is your best option, to quote an extremely wise man, "by a country mile." Have you decided? I work with quite a few attorneys from Samford actually. One of them got a $9mn verdict last week. The other had a sweet party on his $3mn yacht over the summer. Probably not representative of your average Samford graduate though... Yeah, LSU helped soften the other blows I have received. I don't want to go there really, though. I applied to a lot more places initially than I would actually want to attend. Definitely regret that, but hey, what can you do. Still waiting & praying on UNC. If not, then it really looks like it's sitting out a year and retaking. We will see though.
