All of the schools to which I've applied have given me merit-based fee waivers. Applied relatively late in the cycle, FWIW.

3/2 - michigan $$$ today

3/6 vanderbilt $$$ today

3/16 duke $$$ today

3/20 CU $$$ today, by email

4/07 chicago letter - they put me on hold. (cue muzak)

5/01 withdrawing from umich, duke, vanderbilt, CU, and deferring for a year. (no response from ucla yet - weird.)

5/18 - waitlisted at ucla

5/26 - rejection letter from chicago

12/11 - NEW CYCLE - heard from cornell today -- acceptance, no eligibility on the dean's scholarships (of $105K)

04/01/10 - hopefully not their idea of an april fool's joke, cornell offered $60,000 by letter.

wow, you would turn down michigan? i think i would choose michigan over just about every school. those sound like good plans. with your stats, you could probably go just about anywhere. i'm curious to see where you'll end up/what your plans will be. right now the big contenders for me are syracuse and miami, but hopefully one of my pending apps comes through as a more obvious choice. i'm going to visit both syracuse and miami at the end of march/beginning of april. we'll see what happens... so is cornell your ultimate top choice? you didn't apply this year, did you?
