Extra Curricular Information

Decent soft qualifications. Nothing too spectacular but not too bad either.

Fudged numbers to remain anonymous. I'll correct them at the end of my cycle for preservation's sake.

Additional info & updates

2 weeks until Oct LSAT.
This time I'm a bit more prepared. Should score 10 (give or take) better than my Dec '12 score.
Looking forward to a much better cycle!

Notes from previous cycle:
Noticed that there weren't many people with numbers similar to mine on LSN so after going though this site religiously for the past couple of months, I decided to put up a profile in case anyone in the future (or now) can benefit from it.

Note:
All applications were sent between 1/22 and 2/4.

Updates:

1/25: In at Hofstra via phone call. Sent in the application two days ago and don't even have a status checker yet. Would like to know how much money I'm looking at here but I guess that'll have to wait for the admissions package.

2/2: In at Depaul via email. 15k scholarship with a 3.2 stipulation (half the amount at 2.9).

2/2: Waitlisted at Loyola-Chicago. Was kind of hoping for the admit. This school was high on my list of considers. Oh well, such is life. I'm determined to wait this out!

2/7: Held at UMiami.

2/9: In at Rutgers-Camden via email. I would keep this as a serious consider but the whole RU-Camden merger stuff going on is kind of turning me away.

2/13: Rejected at Baylor for Fall '12. My application is now being considered for the Summer '12 and Spring '13 terms.

2/14: In at Rutgers-Newark, Syracuse, and John Marshall-Chicago.

2/15: Waitlist at Penn State. Thought I had a good chance. Oh well, at least it's better than a straight out rejection.

2/17: Waitlist at Illinois. With my numbers I was expecting a rejection so I should be glad, but still hoped for the admit. I love Urbana-Champaign and have spent the better part of my past five years in the twin cities. Would love to spend my time in law school here.

2/20: Lackluster day for decisions today. Rejected at Georgia State and WL at Cardozo. I'm expecting a lot of my pending decisions to go this way as well. WL at Cincinnati.

2/21: Rejected at George Mason.

2/22: In at Oregon and NYLS.

2/23: In at St. Johns. Also, submitted my app to UConn. Super late in the cycle but I thought I'd give it a shot.

2/24: Doh, waitlisted at the school I wanted most... American University. Got scholarship info from Oregon today. 5K a year 2.0 stip.

2/27: WL at Brooklyn.

2/29: WL at Temple via Status Checker.

3/1: WL at Catholic.

3/9: Dinged at Northeastern.

3/12: WL at Miami. Lesson for all future applicants - do NOT apply this late in the cycle if your numbers aren't phenomenal. Only waiting on a few more decisions before I send out my deposit. Then it's "WL Hell" until August (9 schools and counting!) Time to start writing LOCIs!

3/14: Ding at UConn and UMN. Just a few more and my seat deposit is going out. Praying for some good news now.

3/15: God is good. Accepted at Chicago-Kent!!! Perfect for me since I live in Chicago!

3/18: In at Buffalo.

3/20: In at Seton Hall.

3/29: Decision Rendered at USD, nothing in mail yet.

3/30: WL at Denver.

4/3: Letter from USD finally came. Ding. =[

4/5: Got a nice email from Chicago-Kent offering 4k/year guaranteed.

4/13: Looks like my top two going into deposit season are UOregon and Chicago-Kent. Then waiting for U of I or American!

4/17: In at Santa Clara via status checker... Super late in my cycle and my plans to stay in Chicago are pretty much set... unless my admit packet comes with a tidy sum!

4/18: Accepted off WL at Penn State with 5k/yr.

4/24: In at USF. I kind of forgot I applied here but was pleasantly surprised by the admissions email. But at this point, I've decided to seriously consider a retake and to reapply next cycle. This will all depend on whether or not I get off the WL at UIUC.

4/26: Ding at LMU.

5/1: PSU dropped the GPA stipulation on my scholly to 2.8 or roughly top 2/3 (as I was told by the dean)

5/4: Called Case Western earlier this week. Status Checker updated with deposit amounts and dates! I'm in! UPitt is the last school I'm waiting on to complete my cycle.
Reluctantly withdrew today from PSU today, as my deposit deadline was this evening.

5/7: 13,000/yr from IU-Indianapolis. 3.0 stipulation.
Also, starting serious LSAT prep soon.

5/8: Scholly at Chicago-Kent upped to 11.5k/yr guaranteed...

5/9: 15k/yr at Case Western. Also... Off the WL at Brooklyn. Will not be receiving any merit based aid from Brooklyn (they told me that they don't offer aid to candidates below their medians...)

5/10: In at Pitt, thus concluding my cycle. It has come down to UIUC or bust for me. Prepping for October LSAT now. Already scoring in the high 160s after a little bit of efficient studying so I'm pretty confident I will have a MUCH better cycle this Fall. Either way, I will be updating this profile for the sake of other low GPA applicants in the future. I'm surprised how well this cycle went for me considering my super late submissions and low numbers. I have them listed as 3.0 160, but in reality, my numbers were a bit lower. Will be correcting them after I hear from UIUC. Stay tuned!

5/23: In at Cinncinnati off WL!

6/5: Scholly upped to 15k at Oregon. As tuition is already so cheap in comparison to other schools, my post grad debt will end up below 60k. So very slightly tempted but can't give up on an October retake if it means I'll be taking on any debt, whatsoever...

6/14: Looks like schools are having trouble filling seats. This past week I've had my scholly increased at Oregon to 20k, at Chicago-Kent to 14k, and at Brooklyn from 0 to 19k. Still apprehensive about taking on more than 50k for a T2 JD, and staying consistent with my original plans, if I don't get into UIUC, I am retaking.
