Additional info & updates

Columbia acceptance came in the mail on 1/26, letter dated 1/22

In at UVA via phone call (no e-mail beforehand). I can't get over how nice the admissions people are at all of these schools.

2-6 -- In at Northwestern for the year 2010 -- so 135,000 if I defer and work for a year. Hm.

2-25 -- Scholarship offer from Georgetown. 10K per year. Looks like I'll be withdrawing, which is sad, because they were definitely toward the top of my list.

3/31 -- Withdrew from UVA and Duke. I don't like this withdrawal stuff.

4/23 -- Absolutely floored by Chicago's response to my appeal. I have one night to sleep on this decision, which would probably be a no-brainer for most other people, but isn't for me for a slew of reasons.

Update: Chose Columbia.
Staying on Harvard and Stanford waitlists.

6/24 - KB1 e-mail

6/30 - KB1

7/6 - KB2!!!
Definitely dumbfounded. I'm heading back to Boston!...although I am sincerely disappointed about not being with my friends in NYC. Lots of Chinatown bussing.

7-29 - Don't know if it counts as an acceptance because I told Dean Deal that I couldn't take the seat because I'm in the midst of signing a lease on a place, but she did call to tell me there was a spot open if I wanted it. Palo Alto/Stanford would have been awesome, but it's just too late to try to switch.

Even if you do not get off of the Harvard or Stanford waitlists, you're still going to an amazing school! I'm sure you'll have an excellent experience at Columbia! I wish you all of the luck in the world on the waitlists, though.

Congratulations

on Harvard. Do you mind sharing Chicago's response to your appeal? I don't see any money listed.
