Actually, it's funny you came to my lsn.com page. I already posted to you, but used my regular name to do it, as I wasn't signed into my account that day. See the post "Rutgers" above, and that was me. At any rate, I would be highly considering Rutgers if they would let me take the summer Contracts class. I think the fact that they only have two sections limited to 60 students isn't very fair, considering their first year class is 3 times that size, or perhaps even higher. The reason is that, Rutgers is different than other schools with summer programs. Other schools, such as IU Bloomington, will let you start with one class in the summer, but will still have you take 4 classes in the fall. I have heard that Rutgers doesn't do things that way, and they only have you take 3 classes in the fall if you took the summer Contracts class, making your first semester that much easier. I didn't get accepted until late in March and by that time the summer contracts class was filled up. I supposedly got placed on the waitlist for the summer class, but that is like more than impossible to get off of, unless someone by some miracle changes their mind. I don't even know how many people are on the waitlist for the summer class. It's too bad they don't basically leave it open and see how many people would like to do it and then offer as many sections as are needed. That would be more fair. Because otherwise it is so discriminatory against other applicants who are accepted late in the cycle. Anyway, so are you going to attend Rutgers then? I guess I am not just concerned about the area itself, I am concerned about how much it costs. To live there anyway. I mean, heck, it costs as much to live in Camden as it does to live in the Chicago area. Chicago was my dream place to live and I really wanted to live there during school. That is by far where I want to practice. I was offered a job there while in school and after graduation already. That's why it was so attractive and it had all I wanted. My concerns about Rutgers also include whether or not I would be able to get a job in Chicago after graduation. Very few Rutgers graduates go to that region to practice. So if you are going to Rutgers, have you secured your housing siutation yet? There are so many students living in the Victor Apartments, it's kind of funny. What's also interesting is the only person who told me not to go to Rutgers (well, a couple of people) are ones in the U of Chicago applicant student board that don't even attend there. Everyone else has told me that, despite the fact that the surrounding area is not attractive, Rutgers' campus is exremely safe and it's a great law school. I have heard that the law school itself is very old, but my pal on lsn.com, squirt, said that they are planning on renovating the law school and finishing the renovation in 2007. That kind of concerns me because if they're going to be doing so much construction, it could be making a lot of noise that could distract you from your studies, wouldn't you think? Well, enough for one day. Please e-mail me if you would like to talk some more. And thank you for your compliments. I agree that if you want to be a successful lawyer, you really need to express yourself and you really need to have somewhat of an attitude to succeed.
It is very obvious you're a person who will make a fine lawyer. Why? Because you can see through the lies and jokes of other people. You actually have reasoning to what you say. Congratulations, as several people on these forums obviously do not have those skills. So have you decided where you're going to attend yet? Good luck. Oh, and by the way, I do like the White Sox, but cannot stand the part of town that their park is in. I'm not a fan of Chicago's south side.
honestly, the campus itself isn't unsafe...considering there are police EVERYWHERE. i don't think i've ever seen so many cops in one area in my life. however, a couple blocks out and you'll just feel unsafe. you got people loitering all over the place that it reminds me of a scene from grand theft auto. like i said before though, school itself isn't bad. lemme know if you have anymore questions...email me.
