I'm not really sure what's going on with Iowa--I Emailed them a little bit ago and they said that I was being "considered" for a scholarship but that they were really slow in coming this year...I'm hoping to hear from them soon, though, because I'm getting ready to start making decisions! Congrats on your acceptances so far--though I must say that I'm shocked about Indiana! Either way, it's clear you'll have a good choice to make in the end.

Yeah, I'm with you on Iowa. It's interesting, but they need to offer some serious money to remain in the game for me. I mailed my waitlist form to BC today. I still really like that school. What'd you decide to do?

I'm staying on BC's waitlist (and others) because I'm curious about the process. I like the schools, too, and would consider attending if the offer was made early enough (and with money...). To that end, I believe that SOME waitlisted people do get money--but I assume it's rare. As for Washington and Lee, near the beginning of the cycle, I thought that I would apply there but as I did some research, it just didn't feel like the place for me. It's a great school, I know, but something about it struck me as being "not a good fit" for me. Looking at the money they're throwing around, it may have been wise to apply for leveraging purposes, but I promised myself that I'd only apply to schools that I would consider attending...

Thanks for the congrats! I'm almost 100% sure that I will be attending GW. American's practice of WLing people with higher numbers is a bit annoying, but luckily I have other options for staying in the DC area. You've got some really nice offers so far, so you deserve congratulations, too! Good luck with the rest of your cycle!!

Yep, I agree with you on American. Not really sure why it went so crazy, but it's really interesting to look at their graph here to see how all the numbers played out. Thanks for the congrats - congratulations to you as well! Now comes the extra-tricky part: deciding where to spend the next 3 years! Good luck with the rest of your cycle!!

My suggestion for you, if you're truly interested in American, is to send a LOCI because the reasoning behind WLing overqualified applicants is to weed out those who applied to them only as a safety. I'm sure they would accept you off the WL if you explained how much and why you want to go there. Although, I'm curious if they offer $$ to applicants from the WL (as I understand, AU is not known for giving many scholarships). Either way, I find the whole yield protection thing to be a ridiculous practice.
