great letters of recommendation

need-based fee waivers everywhere

$36k @ Duke (cheap bastards)
$70k @ Columbia (received after I had accepted to Chicago and withdrawn from Columbia)

waitlisted this year but accepted to Chicago class of '09, later accepted for class of '08 (5-03-05)

just accepted Chicago's offer: $76,800 ($12,800 of this contingent on one summer of public interest work)

I am really happy that I don't have to wait all summer on H, and even happier that I don't have to go to Columbia. It was a rocky admissions cycle -- I expected smoother sailing with my numbers, so I'm just happy that my numbers actually paid off. My roommate is going to UofC also, but he didn't get any aid. Poor bastard.
