Additional info & updates

Eight years ago I left school and went to work full time. Years later it became apparent that I had to finish my degree, but, with certain responsibilities, I could not give up my full time job to do it. I decided to do both. I am a full time student, working full time at a law firm. I am also thrilled to be the new President of my school's Mentor Connection, a network of support to help other professionals complete their degrees.

My REACH school is obvious. If I were to get in, I would be eternally ecstatic. I'm not holding my breath. I'm also really impressed with what I've seen and heard of UCONN, so that would be really exciting too. Scholarships from Quinnipiac or WNEC would turn my head, since money is a factor-- so here's hoping for that!

Feel free to post comments-- especially if we have similar numbers or targets and you've been through a cycle already.

3/11/10: In at QU Law via email! I never received confirmation that my app was received or complete; the acceptance letter was the school's only email. I got my acceptance packet 3 days later with a scholarship letter. Posted scholarship amount is per year.

3/28/10: Listening to crickets chirping.

4/7/10: I got a phone call at work from WNEC--made my day! They offered me a $17,000 per year scholly over the phone. I'm pretty excited about having a tuition balance I can pay out of pocket! I really didn't think that would happen.

4/15/10: The rejection e-mail from Yale wasn't surprising. I'm disapointed to be on the waitlist at UConn, but I will stay on it and see what happens. I might even retake the LSAT in June, as their letter suggested.
I withdrew from QU today, figuring that my scholarship made WNEC the better choice between the two (between $80,000 in debt or no debt). Those are comparable schools though. UConn, I would go into debt for you!

Invite to apply

Hey. Just to clarify, I guess when YLS got LSAT results, the Black Law Student's Association sent me a letter inviting me to apply. They informed me that tons of applicants who would otherwise have a chance void that chance by never applying.

Hi. I hope this is the correct profile so that I'm not creeping some stranger out. ;) This is Mike from the open house @WNEC earlier today. Just wanted to say hello. Feel free to keep in touch. I'm also on FB.
