I have worked for my current employer (municipality) for nearly 15 years. I started in an entry level laborer position and have worked my way up into middle management. My plan is to finish my law degree at about the same time that I obtain 20 years with my current employer and am elligible for retirement. I will only be 44 years old and can start my law career.

I was hoping to get some decisions today. Guess it will be after Thanksgiving.

11/30/2010 - Thanksgiving is over. Still no decisions. I should quit checking the status checkers and use that time for studying for finals. I mean I still have to graduate......right?

12/06/2010 - Oklahoma City status has changed to "In Review"

12/11/10 - Well, I only have one more final exam and I am through with undergrad. Time sure does fly. I will "walk" next Saturday. This is a very big deal as I will be the first in my family to accomplish receiving a college degree. This helps with the anxiety of waiting to hear back from the law schools but I still check the status checkers every day with fingers crossed.

12/14/10 - Texas Wesleyan status changed to "Under Review"

01/07/11 - E-mail from OCU...... it is an invitation to come to the school for a scholarship preview?????? Does this mean that I have been accepted? Probably not....probably sent the same email to everyone that applied. If so, that is so wrong because when I saw the email pop up I was hoping for an acceptance.

01/25/11 - Oklahoma City status checker changed to accepted. I am going to law school!!!!! Still waiting on Texas Wesleyan. If they reject me I will be Oklahoma bound.

01/25/11 - Received an acceptance email from Oklahoma City associate dean at about 10:20 PM. Stated additional information about deadlines and scholorships will be arriving in a few days.

03/01/11 - I called Texas Wesleyan because it is now March and I only have about 6 weeks to let Oklahoma know whether I will attend or not. They stated that they were behind due to the recent weather and are trying to get caught up. I am grateful that I have been accepted to Oklahoma but an acceptance from Texas Wesleyan would make my life much simpler. I would be able to keep my current job that I have had for 15 years and would be able to reach 20 years with my employer by the time that I graduate from law school. That would mean retirement at the age of 44 and a guaranteed retirement check for the rest of my life while starting a new law career. This has been my plan since I decided to start at my undergraduate school. Keeping fingers crossed.

04/09/11 - Just got home from OKCU Dean's Preview. This is a good school that really seems to care about their students. I am lucky to have been accepted. Still waiting on Texas Wesleyan.

05/01/11 - Sent the remainder of my seat deposit to OKCU yesterday (over night mail). Received an email confirmation from the admission office today. Still no word from Texas Wesleyan..........I still have hope that I will be admitted so that I can be home every night with my family......but that hope is slowly fading.

07/06/11 - Texas Wesleyan status checker updated today to decision rendered............waitlist. At least I still have a chance.

08/05/11 - Spoke with the admissions dean at Texas Wesleyan today. I have been accepted! My stressful cycle is finally over.
