LOR:
1 - Testament of personal qualities
2 - Academic
Hoping to practice Int'l Law w/ emphasis in Feminist Jurisprudence.
I'm as "average" of an applicant as possible in terms of numbers. I am hoping my personal statement will help me get accepted. My LOR are probably a wash.
Today (April 17), my online status checker went from "In Review" to "Decision Rendered". Covered in a cold sweat, I called the Admissions Rep, who told me she couldn't tell me anything on the phone. So, the wait begins for the letter (hopefully in a big envelope!) to arrive.
Good luck to all in this cycle.

Got a single sheet of paper in the mail. Waitlisted. So disappointing, but I guess I'll just have to wait it out.

I spoke with the Elizabeth in Admissions. She said UNLV has wait listed about 250 people this year, and last year about 25-30 people were offered seats. She said that could change this year since the economy is so tough right now, and people are more likely to matriculate.
That's basically a 1 in 8 chance of getting in. I have never wanted anything so badly!

Just to update any interested parties (and those that are applying or scoping out UNLV), I originally applied for the full time program as an out of state applicant. Since my husband was active duty military w/ military orders, I could have legitimately applied as a Nevada resident, but I didn't know that, so I applied as KS resident. After being wait listed, I updated my residency, which I was told would help my odds of getting off the wait list (not rocket science - UNLV accepts about 70% Nevada residents for the JD program).
Anyhow, after several LOCIs, reading "The 9 mistakes you don't want to make on a wait list", sending some extra letters of support from various friends who are in the legal field, I was told by the Dean and the AdCom rep (Elizabeth) that I had done all I could do - only an open seat could redeem my status.
I was determined to keep myself on their radar, however, and called diligently (every 3 weeks to the AdCom rep, 1x a month to the Dean beginning in July). The day after my 2nd convo with the Dean, I was offered acceptance into the part-time night program, which I accepted with the intention of starting the full time program in 2010 (this is very easy to do at Boyd if you're willing to play a little catch-up).
Good luck, and never give up the hope... I was admitted 4 business days before classes started!
