1/23/08 FIRST ACCEPTANCE! Loyola University Chicago w/ 8K/yr contingent on 3.0 GPA. Not my first choice overall but nice to start the cycle out with an acceptance and a scholarship to go with it. Excited to see what comes next!

2/04/08 -- First ding @ George Mason. Came in small white snail mail envelope. Mentioned many more candidates applying this year than normal, not sure if this is true, or just to make me feel better :)

2/11/08 -- Accepted at SLU, nominated for full scholarship, sent in the additional essay for that. Not a huge surprise, but still nice nonetheless. Received large white snail mail envelope. Updated: Applied for 1843 Scholarship (full tuition), did not receive that but did get $63,000. Heard back on 1843 status first week of march.

2/11/08 - W/L at Wisconsin, not in state so thats probably part of it. Total bummer, I like Wisconsin, will send in a LOCI soon.

2-12-08 Ding at GWU. Pretty much expected this one, applied FT/PT so one super reach is out of the question! Darn! Came in small snail mail envelope. Starting to be a little worried but holding out hope.

2/13/08 --- Email from Tulane regarding acceptance. Received Tulane Acceptance Packet 2/16/08 only 6,000 yr scholarship. I am pretty disappointed I've seen similar stats get more, but I did apply a bit later than some.

2/21/08 -- online status checker for UGA says ding. Didn't really care about this school, so whatever.

2/23/08 -- Received large envelope and a small envelope from Marquette. Very visually appealing materials, but no mention of money. No money, no Marquette.

03/07/08 -- WL at American University. Gonna withdraw more than likely. Not terribly impressed with the school.

03/08/08 --- Received a letter of being placed on "hold" at Minnesota. I expected outright rejection, so that was pretty sweet to at least delay it for a while :) You never know. It is my only Top 20 app other than Wash U St. Louis, so that gives me a bit of hope for some of my reach schools at least.

03/08/08 -- was rejected to Colorado Boulder today though, was not vastly interested but at least wanted a reason to visit Colorado to do some skiing this spring. Darn.

04/02/08-- Have not updated for a while, i've had a few rejections and I was just added to WUSTL's Waitlist. I expected rejection from them, so i was a bit surprised. Will submit that form to remain on the waitlist.

05/16/08 -- Received notice that I was accepted at American. Did not like their style of only giving 24 hours to decide with no financial aid info given . Did not receive a scholarship, withdrew next day.

05/20/08 -- Off the waitlist at UW-Madison. Received $5000/yr which seems pretty good from them. Have a few weeks to decide, gonna be a tough choice between UW & Tulane.

I eventually decided on Tulane. My job interests do not line up where Wisconsin would place the strongest. This concludes my cycle (although I still await WashU where I fully expect a rejection)

I did better with Tulane than with Marquette. You are vice versa. C\'mon down!

Mint juleps. Po-boys. Jazz Fest (well, it\'s smack in the middle of finals). Mardi Gras. Who could say no?
