Extra Curricular Information

Several things from High School, though that doesn't really matter does it?

I have a TEFL certification, and taught ESL for the class.
I coach high school lacrosse.
I have done Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan and coordinated Relay for Life and blood drives in high school.
I had an internship freshman year and one in high school.
I have had too many jobs to count and currently have two.
I am self-taught in Catalan (though I'm not very good).
I write stories, poetry, and currently am working on a novel.

Additional info & updates

18 Aug, 2011 - Made profile. Unsure on order of schools and some I may have left off. Decided to only order the top group because having a school listed as my last choice seems counter-productive.

I have a low GPA due to outside circumstances, so I am sort of dreading this cycle, but here goes nothing. Possibly retaking to raise LSAT, even though it's 98th percentile I am not satisfied with it.

27 Sep, 2011 - Still waiting on LORs, have a lot of apps filled out just needing to have final draft of my PS and get my 3 LORs in. I have my transcripts in. I really hope they get in ASAP because I wanted to be done by October. Now hoping for Mid-Oct (definitely for UM ED).

I'm starting to confirm my suspicions, as I fill out applications and resumes, that I would be a really attractive candidate if every school decided to ignore my GPA or if I could somehow invent a time machine and elevate it. Really hoping at least one of my top choices looks past it.

24 Oct, 2011 - Finally submitted my first application: Early Decision to Michigan. Cross your fingers (I know we might theoretically be competing but I'll cross mine for you if you'll do the same!).

My LORs took a long time, my final one just came in a few days ago. Kind of got impatient, but it helped me revise my Personal Statement a little more in the interim (though not as much as I should have).

I hate being a splitter. Feels like I'm on the chopping block and it's making me nervous. Gotta stay positive! Good luck to anyone who happens to read this =)

27 Oct, 2011 - Things are really getting rolling now! I went to submit my UVa application, and I discovered there was a fee waiver. WHAT? I mean, WHAT? Does that mean they actually, actively want me? I'm confused. Maybe there's something I missed. I was ecstatic.

I requested an interview with Vanderbilt, so hopefully I can get one soon. Hopefully that will help my candidacy.

Going to start applying to the next level of choice, and just go down the line. Got most of my top tops in, so I'm a little relieved, but I won't settle until I've gotten my decisions back. Good luck all.

2 Nov, 2011 - Tomorrow morning is my off-campus interview with a Vanderbilt alumnus, 7:30 am sharp. I'm a bit nervous, but it should be informal so it'll be alright. VULS is becoming one of my top choices for sure, so acceptance there would be awesome.

9 Dec, 2011 - Did not get in ED to Michigan. Obviously this was my top choice, so pretty bummed, but they will continue to consider me in the regular application pool.

27 Dec, 2011 - I GOT IN SOMEWHERE! OMG! Washington University in St. Louis! They actually want me! And it's for real! Ahhh! Before the New Year, no waitlist or anything! I'm so happy right now.

Hey!! I just got my scores back and I got a 176 so I'm pretty stoked!! I'm shooting for NU, but I think I'm not getting in ED (since their new ED program = a full ride), so I'll get to play out my whole cycle. I'm sort of nervous to see how it goes, since I'm a pretty intense splitter. Hopefully I get some love! Keep me updated on your cycle and when you hear back--I hope to see lots of 'A's on this page!!! :D :D :D

Thanks I'm really hoping I didn't mess up by getting super involved in my extracurriculars. I've been super nervous about applying as a splitter, but I think we'll both be fine. Good luck to you too.
