Additional info & updates

Cycle is "over", though I'm riding one waitlist.

Got a bit of a late jump on applications, but hoping for the best...

1/17: Accepted to NYU. Skinny purple envelope.

1/23: In at Columbia--big greenish envelope.

2/12: Sent to faculty review at Berkeley.

2/20: Rejected at YLS. No big surprise here.

3/9: Waitlisted at UVA...this doesn't really make sense to me, but whatever.

3/13: In at Penn via phone call. Also, withdrawing from UVA.

3/20: In at Berkeley via status checker, then email.

4/3: Rejected at Stanford, and actually kind of a funny story about this one. They actually sent me someone else's rejection letter (both the envelope and letter addressed to someone else). I emailed them to see what was up, and they sent me an email to the effect of "oh, that's weird, we must have mixed something up. Oh, btw, you're rejected too." Oh well, was not terribly optimistic about that one with my numbers.

4/13: Waitlisted at Chicago.

4/15: Waitlisted at Harvard. Was expecting an outright rejection, so this is a pleasant surprise.

5/1: Deposited at Columbia, but still riding Chicago and Harvard waitlists.

5/5: Withdrew from NYU, Penn and Berkeley. Got in off the waitlist at Chicago.

5/18: Tough decision, but turned down Chicago.

8/11: Rejected at Harvard. Cycle over.

What's up? We have the same numbers and almost the same apps. UVA waitlisted me too. What's up with that?
