Additional info & updates

03/02/09 I was getting 157-161 LSATs 46-55. I felt as if someone has hit my head with a giant hammer when I got 150 for my score. Anyway, I applied to 11 schools. I graduated from an ivy undergrad. I have 8 years of work experience in financial industry. I got two letters of recommendation. One is personal and the other is work related. I wrote the personal statement in an emotionally appealing way nothing logical or creative.. just based on my experience and feelings.

I really don't like this waiting period. I of course don't expect that I would get accepted to any of the schools since I applied so late in this cycle. Anyhow, I heard from Ave Maria School of Law that they begun reviewing my file. I really hope I get into Ave. The school recently moved to Florida and had few troubles internally and with ABA but I heard a lot of good things about the school.

3/17/09 I am hoping I will get into a school in the Tri State area. Its difficult for me to get agreement from family members for a long term move to a different state. They are very mad that I even applied without their consent. It took a lot of confrontation and thinking before I realized that the harmony in the family is more important than me getting a JD.

I check this site at least 5 times a day. I feel like I am at a big disadvantage cause I applied late in the cycle. I also feel like I should have done much better on my LSAT. Depending on the result, I am thinking of retaking the LSATs and applying again in next cycle.

3/17/09 I got an acceptance email from Ave Maria School of Law. I didn't expect to hear from them so soon. I'm really happy as I received $24,000 scholarship. I will visit the school's new campus and decide when I hear from other contending schools. It is the only school I really want to go outside my area. Of course, persuading my family is a whole different matter entirely..

3/24/09 Not much going on. I am waiting for Rutgers and Seton before making my decision. My numbers are on the low scales for them so I try not to get too disappointed. I have been able to pursuade the family for going to Naples. So all thats left is more waiting. I've begun organizing some options on how I am going to pay for law school.

3/30/09 I got an acceptance email from John Marshall Law School at Chicago. I haven't received a package yet so I am uncertain whether I received any scholarship.

3/31/09 I received an acceptance package from John Marshall Law School. I received $24,000 for scholarship. I'm thrilled that I am receiving any scholarships. I never expected to receive any as my numbers are in the low scales. I am just grateful. My family members are split going to Naples and going to Chicago. I will have to make the decision soon as I need to put deposit by April 15. I suspect I will receive more decisions from other schools in coming weeks and decided to wait until next week before I send out my check.

4/2/09 No word from other schools yet. In the mean time, I decided to retake LSAT in June. I know I can do better than 150. I am still baffled by how I could have done so much worse than my practice test scores. June scores won't affect decisions made this cycle, but I saw that some law firms ask for LSAT scores for their internship positions. I feel as though I should try increasing the score before I attend the law school since I probably won't have the time to study for LSAT then. I am also waiting for financial aid package from the accepted school. It took me 7 years to pay off my loan from undergrad. The thought of another loan to pay off isn't all that pleasant but I guess I need to bite the bullet again.

4/6/09 Got rejection letter from Syracuse and acceptance letter from Touro and Cooley all three in the mail box. I guess my numbers were too low for Syracuse.
