Worked two jobs in school first time I attended. Had a career after dropping out. Returned a decade later, was self-employed and worked during school and have been self-employed since graduating.

Magna Cum Laude, PKD, honor's thesis, research assistant for professor in undergrad.

upward trending GPA - did better after taking nearly a decade off and working, then transferring.

Have negative softs on character and fitness that requires an addendum from when I was 21. This may or may not have affected my cycle. I was struggling financially in my 20's and handled my finances poorly to boot. I wrote some bad checks, which resulted in a misdemeanor theft charge that has since been expunged. I also had a traffic citation get out of hand, missed a court date and had a suspended license and failure to appear to contend with.

Applied broadly as a result of this and being a bit of a splitter.

#'s have been unfudged since cycle is over.

2/3 1st response WL at Duke - at least it isn't an outright rejection. Planning to visit in March or April and will send LOCR

2/8 1st admit WUSTL - woot!! That was fast. Admit email says being considered for Scholars in Law award. $$=good thing.

2/11 A surprising rejection from Minn. :-( Record 1-1-1 so far.

2/16 OMG! OMG! Phone call from Dean Ortiz at UCI this morning. I am in and I'm so excited, I just can't hide it - giddy to say the least. After Minnesota I had no idea what to expect this cycle. So weird. But going to be tough to top half tuition at UC Irvine.

2/18 moved to faculty review at Berkeley. Not rejected outright - Yay! Decision expected "on or around March 12"

2/22 In at UNLV with free ride conditioned on staying in top 1/3 of class. As tempting as that is I can't see taking UNLV over Irvine.

2/26 In at UT - woot!! Got the phone call while driving today. All I could do to focus on driving and not veer off the road so excited. Tough decisions ahead but think whatever I choose I will be fine. When Minn rejected me I was really really worried - apparently the worry was not well founded.

3/1 in at U of Arizona. Not sure they got my email withdrawing my application from consideration. Need to follow up.

3/9 WL at Virgina. Better than a reject. Will send LOCI as I liked the school a lot when I visited.

3/9 Apparently I am not being considered for merit aid at UT-Austin :-(. My only hope is the scholarship matching program.

3/11 Berkeley doesn't t able to log onto admitted student site until today.

3/18 waitlisted at Emory. Withdrew

3/19 Another waitlist - this time to Michigan. Gonna ride this one out at least for a little while.

3/23 received waitlist from Vandy - DM 3/16. Looks like classes are filling up and waitlist season is beginning - I am paying the price of applying later in the cycle.

4/1 WL Boston U and rejected Stanford

4/1 withdrew from most schools even without a decision - very impressed with UCI and best location for my spouse and I

4/15 rejected from Yale. Not unexpected but it was my dream since returning to school. So a bit heartbroken as well.

4/28 Unsurprising Harvard rejection

4/29 Moved from held to WL at NU. As much as I like NU I am withdrawing since they are pretty upfront in telling you not to expect $$ off the WL

Cycle over. I am very excited about UCI!!
