Extra Curricular Information

I'm an editor at a major publishing house in NYC, but am looking to make a career change. Doing this all kind of at the last minute - I just decided at the beginning of August that I was seriously going to try my hand at this. I signed up for a Kaplan course and have been taking it since mid-August - I'll be taking the LSAT on the 26th and deciding where / if I will apply when I get my score.

Additional info & updates

I saw on someone else's profile that they were kind of keeping a diary of their progress - it was really helpful to read! So I'll try doing that as well.

9/09/09: 16 days to the LSAT. I took a practice test last night and my score is NOWHERE near where I want it to be. 159. That's four points up from what my diagnostic was, and my diagnostic was taken with absolutely no knowledge of the LSAT. Logic games are killing me, and I completely zoned out on the Reading Comp section, which is obviously usually my best. Time to really buckle down with the studying. I'm having a rough time with it since I work all day and don't have a computer at home, thanks to a hardware error that I can't afford to fix.

9/14/09: Took another practice test on Saturday - 159 again! Ugh.

9/21/09: Another practice test. Now I'm at 161. Someone recommended I get the PowerScore book for the logic games, so I'm working my way through that. But with the LSAT on Saturday, it seems pretty certain I'm not going to get the 170 score I want.

9/28/09: Well - I feel semi-good about the LSAT. Not 170 good, but I thought one of the reading comps was really easy - I hope it wasn't the experimental! And I felt good on the logical reasoning. Logic games I still bombed on. We'll see.

3/10/10: Rejected at Penn via status checker. No big surprise there, but they kept me under review for a really long time, so I admit I got my hopes up.

Have been under review at Georgetown since 2/12 - what's taking so long?

3/18/10: Waitlisted at Emory via email.

3/19/10: Waitlisted at W&M via email, after they gave me a fee waiver! This year is rough.

3/23/10: Accepted at Brooklyn Law via email.

My PTs scores have been close to what yours are. I am hoping for a 160+ otherwise I will be making myself retake in December. Good luck to you on the 26th!
