Additional info & updates

T14 Fee wavers from Columbia, NYU, Chicago, UPenn, Cornell, Duke, Northwestern, Virginia, and UMich.

I have not ranked these five schools. I generally feel more positively towards UPenn and UChicago than most, but couldn't tell you where I would go if I got in to more than one of them.

Harvard: No call, no nothing, not likely, not happy ... hold letter in the mail today (1/21) ... thinking of supplemental materials to send ... send a short supplemental essay on 1/26.

UPenn: Phone call today from the director of admissions at about 3:30 C.S.T. I skipped down the hallway at work.

Columbia: Letter received 1-26-06 (it was dated 1/23)

Chicago: Phone call from a member of the admissions staff (who was also an alum) the late afternoon of feb. 1

I was offered the Hamilton at Columbia. I decided to accept after my Yale waitlist and withdrew from all other schools (including Harvard who was sitting on my application). I will be in deferment for one year.

You're the closest thing to a "numbers twin" that I have. Good luck!

Isn't it great fun applying to schools all over the place when your SO's not mobile for the next year? I guess I'm going to look for a legitimate reason to defer.

Yale's almost ready, and I *finally* sent the other applications. This year has been intense. I hope you start getting more good news soon! And belatedly, congrats on Penn. It's an awesome city/school combination. My prof said that while he was doing a PhD there, one of the law students gained permission to be naked in classes. You know an administration that supports freedom of speech/ideas to that extent has something going for it...

I'm thinking of doing TFA... would you recommend the program? Is TFA the reason you got all of the fee waivers?

hey, belated congrats

Hope Columbia treats you well. Hamilton's a good way to go.
