11/20 : small envelope from dean cornblatt - thank you new orleans mail for taking a day longer then the rest of the country :)

12/12: call from the dean at emory

12/15: call from boston

12/16: things are really starting to pick up - email from fordham

12/21: fordham acceptance letter came with 60k scholarship. sweet.

12/??: 45k from boston.

1/14: email from tulane. acceptance/scholly info are in the mail.

1/16: knew that wouldn't take long - tulane tote bag (so cool) arrived with a nice almost full ride inside.

1/27: found out of GW acceptance via admitted students website. sketch.

update: got the GW acceptance email later that day.

1/30: call from dean of UCLA, with $45k scholly.

2/2: first reserve at columbia - and actually pretty happy about it

2/5: saw that i went to decision rendered today, but assumed it was a waitlist or rejection. then i got a voicemail during class at 5:06 central and freaked out when it was bayrex from upenn!!!!

2/8: withdrew from duke. wouldn't have went there anyways, and mad that they actually wanted me to fly there for an on-campus interview. yeah, right - cause money grows on trees.

2/17: on hold at northwestern. can't say i'm surprised.

2/23: $84K from emory is pretty cool. $104K from gwu is even better. happy mardi gras everyone!

2/24ish: just realized i was rejected from berkeley via status checker. not sure when this happened. oh well.

2/28: received berkeley rejection in the mail.

3/21: nyu rejection arrived.

3/25: harvard rejection email. no surprise there.

4/27: cycle is basically over, and i'm really looking forward to attending penn this fall. (unless i see some waitlist action?) i hope this info will help future applicants!

it's not an easy decision at all - and i'd be happy to discuss the details if you want to drop me an email. i think for me it had a lot to do with the different cities, in addition to the cost factor. another key for me was the idea that tulane really has a ton of stuff going on that i'm interested in... more than i expect to be able to take advantage of, really. so while nyu offered EVEN more in a number of areas... i felt like it was just excess, in a way. once i got my head out of the rankings/ego part, the whole "fit" thing started to become clear. but depending on your situation and your priorities, i could easily imagine recommending the other choice. good luck, in any case!

congrats on penn! making that decision between gulc and penn must have been tough - it was hard for me to turn down gtown too. best of luck to you in the fall!
