Extra Curricular Information

Treasurer, Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law / 2010 - 2011
Vice President, Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law / 2011 - 2012

Member of Honors College all 4 years, was active, took honors courses

Senior Honors Thesis in progress, held summer research fellowship, Fall research grant. That'll be complete in April. Researching public corruption (so legal issues; might help).

Participated in a cappella groups, auditioned mixed choirs, professional/semi professional chamber choirs in and out of school, etc. Basically a ton of choirs. Wrote about that extracurricular for personal statement.

Work experience:

full time during summer, part time during school, all 4 years of undergrad, but never did anything spectacular (never worked more than about 22 hrs/week)

nothing law-related (never worked at a firm or DA's office, etc.), did some bookkeeping, retail for a few years, latest was being paid for research, senior consultant at school's writing center for 2 years, part time during school.

Nominated for college of liberal arts and sciences honor council (basically if someone allegedly cheats, attending hearings to decide and punish).

Additional info & updates

2-page generic personal statement, which I submitted to every school (18 of them).
1-page diversity statement - socioeconomic I guess.
2-page resume.

All applications transmitted between October 29 and November 3. Received most of the confirmations (LSAC completed, all materials received) from November 1 - 8.

did not apply binding ED to any schools, but did do non-binding EA for U. Texas and Cornell.

NOTIFICATION UPDATES: All scholarship awards are totals - divide by 3 for award per year.

William and Mary provided 55% of tuition via a graduate fellowship, with research opportunities. Acceptance via email, acceptance scholarship via packet a few days later.

Washington and Lee offered 40,000 of the 40,800 tuition. Scholarship came a few weeks after acceptance, via letter.

Washington U. Scholarship Committee is reviewing application. UT and UCLA both called - neither came with any $, but apparently you have to send them other offers.

Wake Forest U. in NC offered $ via email at the time of acceptance - $36k per year, when their tuition is $38k.

U. Minnesota TC - acceptance via phone, full tuition/fees scholarship via mail. Called first with just acceptance, received packet 4-5 days later. Right now this is #1.

Cornell via email
Emory via mail, with nice handwritten note. Sweet :)
U Houston via mail

1st rejections = UVA and U Chicago, but I was expecting both. Berkeley too, Waitlist at Northwestern and Notre Dame (that was weird..).

Waiting on Michigan but I don't really care anymore..
At this point, about 95% sure I'm going to Minnesota.
