Additional info & updates

Other fee waivers through LSAC's CRS: Duke, Harvard, Cornell, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and Northwestern University

They weren't applied to because there aren't realistic odds of getting in with my LSAT.

January 12th: Accepted to Loyola
The first $200 deposit is due April 29th and is non-refundable. A decision will probably arrive from USC, UC Davis, or another top choice before I have to consider placing a deposit. UCLA could take until August for final waitlist admissions.

January 14th: Rejected at Boston University
It's not a surprise given my LSAT.

June 24th: Accepted off the waiting list at UCLA!

I had just sent in a letter of continued interest on the 21st and heard from their admissions office not more than 4 hours later. They let me know they would contact me if a seat opened in the class. The 22nd passed with no word and I missed a call from the dean of admissions on the 23rd. It was to tell me I was admitted because I received the notification e-mail and the grant notice on the morning of the 24th. I called back to confirm and was congratulated by the dean.

The letter of continued interest stated my desire to concentrate on public interest law and that I had been waiting for a decision since I applied for early admission in November. I think mentioning the latter was key because it speaks to how much UCLA was truly my first choice considering I had held out this long. I also mentioned I graduated Summa Cum Laude and attached a new letter of recommendation from one of my undergrad law professors who was an attorney for Los Angeles County.

I'm withdrawing from Loyola Law School and will be heading for UCLA. Good luck to the remaining J.D. hopefuls and for those yet to come--I hope this will be of help and a source of hope!

Hey, about your lsat....i think if you would like to try those schools, you should definitely do it! I talked to a rep from Cornell, and she told me that even with my 157, i still have a chance. Also, Stanford's total gpa range starts at a 157, so with your gpa and good softs, they might love you. If you have the fee waiver, and there's a possibility you'd accept, go for it! You never know what could happen. Good luck :-)
