Additional info & updates

I have a lot of really solid softs that I'm hoping will give me something of a boost. Because I'm in West Africa (and mail can be spotty at best), I'm using my parents' address during the application cycle.

Choice/Ranking represents USNWR

Nov 24
I received my first acceptance today (via email). Catholic University with $14,000/year (must remain in top 25% of the class to maintain the scholarship for the 2nd and 3rd years).

So, it looks like I'm definitely going to be going to law school next fall!

Nov 28
Found out via an email from my family that I'm in at American University. AU sent the decision by a priority package. Family's going to scan and email the acceptance letter.

Dec 08
Denied at Fordham via status checker. First denial, making my current record 2-1-0.

Dec 10
Status checker at Northeastern says that a decision letter's been mailed (on Dec 07). Hopefully, it's good news. And, hopefully, my family's quick to email me the results once they arrive!

Dec 12
Wow! In at Northeastern (by letter) and in at Iowa (by email)! Northeastern is offering a $25,500 Peace Corps scholarship as well as a $3,000 stipend for an unpaid public interest co-op.

No news yet on scholarship info from Iowa, but the official letter is being mailed to my parents.

Dec 19
Denied at Boston College via letter. Still waiting to hear from Columbia--which really should happen any day now. Current record: 4-2-0.

Jan 02
Just learned that I've been offered a full ride to Iowa! The Iowa Law Opportunity Fellowship: tuition grants, RA grants and an RA position with no GPA or class rank requirements to maintain.

Jan 04
Dinged at Columbia. They actually mailed the letter to me here in Mali instead of to my parents' house.

Jan 09
On hold at FSU (via status checker). Apparently, that's not the same as the waitlist. It said that they've reviewed my application and want to continue reviewing it before making a decision.

Jan 13
In at Ohio State! News came via email. No word yet on scholarships--they said that info will come later.

Jan 15
Under "Committee Review" at Arizona as of 1/14 (via status checker). Hopefully, I'll have a decision there soon!

Jan 20
Dinged at George Washington. It came by post (family didn't tell me the exact date on the letter). Current record: 5-4-0.

Jan 28
Dinged at BU via letter.

Feb 22
W00t! In at U of Arizona! Via status checker. Now, let's hope for some scholarship money!!!

Waitlisted at Cardozo. Puts my record at 6-5-2 (I'm going ahead and counting the hold at FSU as a waitlist at this point--even if they say it's not).

Mar 01
Received a $30,000 Moritz Diversity Enrichment Scholarship via email. Must maintain a 2.0.

Mar 11
Received a $30,000 scholarship to Arizona via letter. Must remain in good academic standing. Award amount would change to reflect resident status if I became a resident.

Apr 2
Dinged at WUSTL via email on March 30th. Not exactly upset though. Without significant aid, I wouldn't have chosen them over Iowa.

Apr 10
Officially accepted the admission/scholarship offer from Iowa. Cycle's over. Have to say that I'm definitely pleased with the outcome! Good luck to everyone else!

Apr 13
Apparently accepted to Florida State by phone. No word on scholarships, but it also doesn't really matter, since I've already accepted at Iowa.

Apr 29
Arizona tried to sway me by matching the full ride scholarship from Iowa. Even had I not already committed to Iowa, I think I'd choose Iowa over Arizona (though, admittedly, I'd much rather have the AZ weather and outdoor activities).

looks like we have a nice little PCV club on here. I was pretty skeptical about my chances at some of the schools I've applied to, but the first couple letters I've gotten and the fantastic acceptances and scholarship dollars you are seeing give me reason to smile when I check the mail each day. Congratulations!

hey number twin...

I've been stalking your page and it looks like we are both having pretty decent cycles! Where are you leaning towards?
