Additional info & updates

47 year old late bloomer. February score in, 157. Now to see where it will be the cheapest for me to attend.

3/7/14 - First response from Washburn is one HELLUVA way to start my cycle. They offered in-state tuition the first year and $20k/year with a 2.8 gpa stipulation. That's going to be tough to beat, even with living expenses.

3/12/14 - Loyola offered $33k/year with a 2.5 GPA stipulation. Unfortunately, it'll require living expenses + covering the approximately $9k/year shortfall in tuition.

3/12/14 - SLU came in with a good scholarship, but I don't think it's near what I'd need. The shortfall is about $12k/year in tuition + living expenses.

Overall, though, this has been a great start to this old man's go at law school. It's finally beginning to hit me that 1) It's real and 2) I'm going, come hell or high water. I just need the right offer from the right school in the right area (and the wife's blessing since she'll be staying in Memphis regardless of where I end up).

03/13 - Accepted at Mississippi College. Called and was told that I would have a full ride scholarship if I schedule an interview with the school within the next month, with a 50% stipulation.

3/13 - Accepted to Arkansas-Fayetteville with a $12k scholarship ($6k per semester for the first year) as long as I am classified as out-of-state.

3/14 - Stetson offered me a fee waiver. It was my first choice but I didn't initially apply because it's so far from my wife (who needs to stay in Memphis and pay the bills) and because I didn't think I was competitive enough for a scholarship in the amount I would need to justify going to a school so far away. Well, I figured there was no way to be sure if I didn't apply, so I threw my application at them and am now just hopeful that they surprise the hell out of me.

3/14 - Status checker at Memphis says accepted now. I called to see what I might be able to learn about any scholarship aid and was told that if I received any I should be getting an email telling me.

3/17 - Admitted at Iowa and Ole Miss via status checker. No word on scholarships yet.

3/18 - Ole Miss waived out of state tuition for the first year and has offered a no-stip full tuition scholarship for three years. By far the best offer yet.

3/31 - Admitted to UMKC and to UALR via status checkers. Letters en route. No word on scholarship offers yet.

4/3 - Letter arrived from Arkansas-Little Rock. Full scholarship conditional on staying in the top 50%.

4/4 - Withdrew from UMKC & UALR. I don't think anyone will be able to beat Ole Miss. Finally heard back from Memphis. The offer was $8,500 per year, contingent on staying in the top 50%.

5/2 - Memphis offered another 2,990 per year. They are now the least expensive option considering total estimated COA, by about $1,500 per year when compared to Ole Miss. Hello Memphis! Looks like I get to stay at home with the wife! WooHoo!
