Additional info & updates

8/21/09 - Welcome to the world of law school apps. Took the LSAT in June, made my letter of rec requests to my old boss and professors in July. I'm currently waiting on two of the letters to get finished while trying to complete one of my Personal Statements.

As for where I'm aiming, I'm hoping that with my LSAT score, relatively good GPA and my extracurricular accomplishments, I can get into a Top 5 . . . though getting into Yale, Stanford or Harvard would be AMAZING. That would be a dream come true.

-----------------------

9/6/09 - Finished my Personal Statement after weeks and weeks of working on it with my Stanford graduate advisor . . . have moved onto my Optional Essay, which I'll use for most of the schools I'm applying to. Also, my school list has expanded from 13 to 18 after a good conversation with a different graduate advisor. Really glad I've had someone in-the-know give me some insight on my approach.

--------------------

9/16/09 - I sent out applications to Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Boston U, Duke, Chicago, Virginia and William & Mary. I'm also ready to sent out the applications to Berkeley, USC and American when they become available on Oct 1.

Now I just have to start on the school-specific essays for my remaining applications . . . ughh, this process never ends.

--------------------------

10/7/09 - Northwestern went out two days ago, Michigan yesterday and Yale today. I'm down to my final two applications and it feels great. In particular, I'm really happy with how my pieces came out for Yale . . . but I know it's gonna be hard as hell to get in, no matter how good my application is. Fingers crossed! Now to get working on NYU and U Penn . . .

---------------------------

10/20/09 - All law school apps are completed and submitted! Fingers crossed that I start hearing some good news soon! =)

---------------------------

10/23/09 - I got an interview request from Harvard! w00t! I'm thrilled for my JR1!

---------------------------

11/3/09 - Had my JR1 yesterday, it went 7 minutes long. I was super nervous and I didn't knock it out of the park, but I think I did okay in my interview. At least I didn't come off like a total idiot. FINGERS SUPER CROSSED

---------------------------

11/23/09 - Just got my JR2!!!! Accepted to Harvard Law baby! w00t!

---------------------------

12/29 - Well, slowly but surely the acceptances have been rolling in. I'm accepted to Harvard, NYU, Berkeley, Michigan, Chicago, Duke, Cornell, USC and William & Mary at this point. I'm still waiting to hear from Stanford and Yale, though. Fingers crossed that I hear from them in January =)

Hey, we are lsat twins! Just dropped by say hi. Good luck on your cycle!

Don't apply to Cornell

As a Cornell graduate, I strongly discourage you from applying to Cornell Law School. The social setting is miserable-- don't waste time or money. I would apply to the top 5 and then places out in California if you want more cultural diversity.

San Francisco is a great place to live while Berkeley is a diverse law school with a superior reputation. Don't get me wrong-- Harvard, Stanford, and Yale are the top of the top, but I want to live in a place where I am not miserable for three years. In addition, if you want to go corporate, it doesn't really matter which university you attend. Any in the top 15, as long as you graduate in the top 10% of your class.
