ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

I didn't write any of the "Why X Law School" optional essays. However, I did tweak my essay for Berkeley, and sent targeted rec letters to Harvard, Stanford, and Berkeley.

Harvard-
KB1 email: 11/3!!!
KB1: 11/7
KB2: 11/21!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

U.V.A.-
For all of you U.V.A. aficionados, I did not write a Why U.V.A., nor had I heard anything from them up until 1/23, so I decided to send Mr. Faulk an update to my resume, explaining what I had been doing since I submitted my application in September. About five minutes after emailing him, Mr. Faulk emailed back asking me to call him. When I called, he said I was accepted, and asked if I had any questions. I asked a question that showed that I had done a bit of research, and he then offered me the full-tuition scholarship. SO, lesson is, SHOW YOUR INTEREST! U.V.A. in particular is very concerned with yield protection, so let them know they're high on your list!

Cornell-
Accepted, with consideration for a full-tuition scholarship, provided that I write a 500-word essay on the advantages and/or disadvantages of taking time off before law school... I probably won't end up writing the essay, after the full-tuition offer from U.V.A.

U. Penn-
Accepted, selected as an alternate for the Levy scholarship (full-tuition).

U. Chicago-
Granted the Rubenstein scholarship!

Columbia- Held 3/8.

Yes this cycle has been amazing for the both of us! I wasn't expecting so many acceptances so early, but it's happened and now I can relax. Congrats on your acceptances (both present and future)!

Will you visit H soon? Seat deposit? It must be insane to be so sure so early.

I'll probably visit in March or April during ASW. I'm still waiting to hear from Stanford and Yale, but I'm about 90% sure H as of right now. Isn't it early to send in a seat deposit? I don't really know how they work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like the perfect cycle is still intact for you. Congrats again, LaCumps!! I am keeping my fingers crossed for what's to come. Columbia and then Y or S, perhaps?

Sorry, just realized I never posted back! I have no idea. I am just hoping to hear good news from H and S at some point this cycle. I am sure you'll be hearing from Columbia sooner than later with $$$. And the full tuition scholly at UVA certainly proves you wrong :)

  • Rubenstein!
  • Friday, February 03 2012 at 04:55 PM

Huge congrats on the Rubenstein! I'm sure you've got a Hamilton coming your way from Columbia too. One quick question: how'd did you learn of the award? Mail, phone, or email, or some other way I haven't thought of?

Congratulations on the amazing options, especially Harvard and the Rubenstein offer! I'd been following your cycle because I have similar numbers and I was really happy to see all of your great news! Did you end up applying for the Levy at Penn?

Thanks I appreciate it! Still no word from Harvard since the hold, so I don't want to get my hopes up too high. However, I did apply for the Wilson at Penn, which would be incredible being from Philadelphia. So I'm really crossing my fingers on the scholarship. Best of luck on your decision!

H or S, I just don't know. I'm leaning toward H, and S admitted me with such short notice that flights are $600+ to get out there for ASW, so that's not happening. I got a great aid package from H so I'll see what S does and go from there.
